I'm sorry to break the news to you but it's not going to happen today. Apple launches new products between 2 and 3 pm CET (= 8 and 9 EST) unless the announcement is part of a keynote or any other similar event. Also since Apple seems to have moved away from Tuesdays only announcements, there's still a small chance it might happen tomorrow. After all Panther was announced on a Wednesday (October 8, 2003), too. If nothing happens tomorrow, I have to agree it won't happen before NAB.

Thanks for the knowledge I will be hopeful for tomorrow then if it isn't announced today in about 1.5 hours or so.

Sorry I couldn't resist :p Been wanting to say that for ages. ;)
and tiger has been released too wow shipping today - free upgrades for all customers ...

Hate to break it, but Tiger won't ship until July 2nd, 2005, 2 PM Pacific Time. It won't be announced ahead of time, and people who order new machines after that date and time will have the option of upgrading for $20 if it doesn't ship with it.

Everyone who buys new machines before then will have to pay the full educator, college student, military, government, family pack, or retail price of $129.95 unless Amazon honors their rebate.

At least this is what I believe.

I've been known to be wrong before.

Meanwhile if you want to know how to make Panther look like Tiger, just ask. Most of Tiger's functions are available third party for Panther.

I'm actually not to bothered when Tiger ships. I just want Apple to announce the damn thing. Especially since we've had FC and Gold confirmed. Well more or less anyway.

APRIL FOOLS!

If most people think FC and GM were hoaxes. Why everyone getting so wound up about Apple announcing something today or even this week. It might be ages before Tiger is announced. Oh wait it will be "first half of 2005" yeah we know already :p

So today is the day Tuesday and my credit card is awaiting the anouncement.

T- minus : ??:??:?? till Tiger
Panther was announced at 8:30 AM Eastern on the 8th of October, 2003, a Wednesday.

If Tiger's been completed I doubt Apple would wait around for two months to release it. I think it will be either announced or released in or around the 3rd week of April.

I bet Apple will announce Tiger right at NAB, have the announcement and the product right there at the same time. I guess Steve likes wowing the crowds when he says what evers being announced is available... day one.

I'd kind of make sense anyways GM being announced though it'd be an ugly joke if it was an April fools thing. All the cameras at NAB and Apple showing off the technologies of Tiger. Steve announcing that Tiger will available today (around April 16-18) day one.

Very true. And when you think about it, Apple is DEFINETLY not going to miss releasing the new line of pro apps at NAB, seeing as they all will rely on Tiger. And if there's no Tiger, there's no Pro Apps.

Tiger HAS to come out before NAB.. it just hhaaaaas toooo.....

Not quite. The pro apps may only depend on Quicktime. In which case, the rumorred Quicktime for Panther update may include the features necessary for those Pro Apps. Tiger may simply better integrate Quicktime 7 into the Finder. If that's the case, the Pro Apps could be released at NAB, and Apple could still wait till the end of June for the rest of Tiger.

Strange that the pre-order of Tiger still is the #1 top seller in the category Electronics over at Amazon!

I wonder if any PC users are ordering Tiger, thinking they can install it. :D
