At least you guys get to spend the nigh sleeping and wake up to read news. It's already 8 AM and June 11 where I live so I get to wait for 11 more hours! So excited! :D

Yeah, the keynote will start at 3am for me. Luckily I have a ridiculous amount of study to do until then.

Regardless, 10:00AM Pacific (whatever) Time is always 1:00PM Eastern (the same) time.

Would be so easy if we all just had one time zone, if everyone used GMT it'd save us all alot of confusion. Who's idea was it to invent new time zones anyway? And what good do they do? (And yes I'm killing time by going off-topic!)

Only reason I can think of is for day light purposes. If two countries on opposite sides of the world both started work at 8am, then one would of them would be working in the midst of the night. :)

Duhh... If we had only one time zone, obviously people would start working at different times across the world... (off topic)

Well, that just means that I would start work at 17 pm and you would start at 8 am, even though both would be in the morning. Although it would may seem like a weird concept to some.

I'm not sure I could handle dawn being between 2330 and 0130.

The UN is completely impotent.

If the US congress decides to do this, then the world will fall in line. Recognize who the power player is and go to them if you need things done. Going to the UN is a waste of time.

I heard there's going to be a lot of discussion about software, operating systems & development tools for both. Probably just a rumor though.

Given that the US can't be bothered to adopt the metric system, you can be reasonably sure they won't do anything about time.

You American? :D

The rest of the world would disagree with this statement. Two examples
1) US has decided, in a silly attempt to save energy, to go to daylight time earlier than "normal". The rest of the world don't care, just get annoyed.
2) US is almost alone in the world using inches and miles/hour while the rest use the more logical metric system... US is about to follow suit.

Yes I know UN is lacking power, but US Congress only have power when using arms.

I'm well aware that I might stomp on some sensitive toes. :)

I just love that sentence.

The metric system is based upon and fully compatible with math, as is the celcius and kelvin temperature scales. Yet... the US measure things based on bodyparts of their ancestors and fahrenheit is based partly on body temperature. *sigh*
