Update: 9to5mac just reported that they now have the specs of the upcoming 6 MBA models, they earlier reported on 4 MBP and 3 Mac Pro's. 13 models - as many as there were on the leaked product list. Doesn't look good...

I am not that interested in the European Football Championships.
It is really a European thing so no wonder England never do well.
Using a single time zone all over the world would make certain forms of communication easier (for example, it would be easier to tell people when to tune in to WWDC) but it would make certain forms of communication insanely difficult. I think the system as it is now is far far better than what you are suggesting.
Imagine you want to tell a simple story or narrate some simple incident that occurred in your life. Your story might contain sentences such as:
"We stayed up until 4AM that night!"
"She called me at 2AM and wanted me to come over."
"He doesn't wake up until 1PM on weekdays."
"He wakes up at 5AM every day."
All of these sentences are very easy for us to understand because we know exactly how late 4 AM for sleeping and how early 5AM is for waking up. But, if we decided to go with your system, these statements could not be understood unless we first figured out which time zone you're talking about and what 4AM means in the context of that time zone. A very complicated exercise.
Didn't mean to use only "GMT", each time zone currently in existance can be expressed as GMT+X or GMT-X, thought this was implied by sheer sense, it's the converstion between for example PDT and GMT or CET that confuses people. Using the same clock globally would be utter nonsense.
