A tiny carabiner doesn’t compromise portability at all, especially not of the AirPods themselves which remain in the ear? Just means you can clip the case to a bag so you know where it is.

I have no idea what your objection is, seems so arbitrary.

it sure does ruin portability. the fact that the moment you clip on a carbiner, it no longer fits the small coin pocket in my jeans (the pocket that Steve Jobs famously pulled an iPod nano out of). if the attachment can no longer make airpods fit in certain areas, it is considered less portable. this is a fact you can't really argue.

my keys already create a discomforting press against my thigh when it's in my pocket. having AirPods attached to a carabiner with the keys makes this problem worse since the keys will twist the carabiner sideways making the airpods case press against my thigh. airpods is better carried when it sits flush in my pocket.

How big are your jeans that you can fit the AirPods case in the coin pocket?!

Also, even accepting that you can, this means that for your use-case, you don't want a ring on the case. Some others might find that more practical and safer. I don't get why you felt the need to tell people they're doing it "wrong" for doing it differently to you.

I don't know why you think they're giant jeans. These are standard 36x30 jeans from the Gap.

As I said, your solution is to simply make the physical item bigger and less portable to make it less likely to lose it. The whole point of AirPods is portability. The act of attaching a keychain negates one of the benefits of AirPods. You're doing AirPods wrong.
