i've always bought counterfeit accessories and never had a problem. and i will continue to do so. no point in paying the apple tax for them.
I hope you meant 3rd Party accessories. Most of the time, I prefer 3rd party accessories because they're usually cheaper and sometimes better. Often a better value.

Counterfeit usually are lower quality that relies on deception. Good 3rd party items stands on its own merits.

People die every year using dangerous fake chargers. Something can give the illusion of working properly, yet kill you if it is poorly designed. It’s not worth the risk. Some years ago, a spate of charger fires and electrocutions led Apple to promote a fake charger “amnesty” where you could swap out a fake item for the genuine thing AT COST. Apple made no money out of it.

it's been going on for years since the iPhone 12 series. Fakes WITH USB-C coming from AliExpress etc. for years, not news.

Knockoff doesn't necessarily translate to cheap quality or dangerous. Heck you can find cheaper knockoff of fashion products close real products.

If you know what to look for, you can save tons of money. There are tons of good quality knockoff Megsafe battery packs and accessories.

Why can’t they just ban these fake products

Because it doesn't worth the effort or resources to go after knockoff products. Enforcement cost money and law enforcement need to allocate resources wisely.

Trying to eliminate fake will never work, you can take out entire supplies of fake products today and tomorrow you will see these fake back on marketplace.

It is simply cat and mouse game that will never ends.

Might as well buy counterfeit iPhones. Jokes aside, I’ve never bought any Apple accessory ever either (except used leather cases at heavily discounted prices on classifieds sites). There are many alternatives at decent prices.
what are these classified websites???

I'd much rather pay more for chargers with proper safety mechanisms than get it off of some dodgy man from eBay. Don't be a cheapskate and put yourself and others at risk just to save a few shillings.

Good, apart from the phone or MacBook everything else I buy such as cases/cables/chargers are proudly counterfeit.
Never had a problem, always had a smile though knowing the money doesn’t go to weirdo cook or the other freak Craig “I walk like I’ve sh4t myself”.
You guys already paid hefty apple tax to own Apple products. i don’t know cheaping out on accessories that price wise generally much less than device itself is something you feel proud of. If you dont want to pay apple tax, dont buy apple products in the first place.

Says the apple user, on an apple rumors site. The irony

This is meant to be constructive but this article is hard to read. The author crosses between Apple’s rumored plans and fake products too many times and it’s confusing.

no.

Why on earth would anyone want to buy a counterfeit MagSafe battery pack when there are loads of 3rd party alternatives (with USB C) from respectable manufacturers at good price points?

Made the mistake of buying an “Apple” branded charger from Amazon where the seller was listed as Apple. On receipt it looked almost identical but slightly off, when I opened it up there was no fuse. They were prepared for my house to burn down to save a penny.

Now I only buy direct from Apple or another reputable store.

Not advisable IMHO, if a company is willing to risk selling a product as "genuine" when its not I cannot imagine they spend any money on quality parts. If y'all had good luck I'm happy for you but why spend top dollar for Apple computers/phones/tablets and risk cheaping out on no name chargers? At least buy a quality product from another company. If its a quality product from a known company it isn't counterfeit.

Yes I agree for things with more electronics like a charger I'd rather go for anker/baseus etc. Often better quality than Apple's own chargers.

The problem is counterfeit products are sold as genuine when they are not. This is IP theft and in some cases involves actual theft (to produce the products and by selling a counterfeit as genuine to unsuspecting buyers). Counterfeiting of many products is illegal. It's also illegal to buy counterfeits, at least in the U.S.: https://www.cbp.gov/trade/fakegoodsrealdangers

There isn't a problem if a company develops an alternative product (e.g., https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Magnetic-Foldable-Wireless-Portable/dp/B09NRG4GK3?th=1) but when a company sells a counterfeit product, they are lying about what they are selling ("This is an official Apple charger or phone or computer or..."). Quality is irrelevant in this case but can be an issue.

Because the Communist party doesn't care to enforce a law which would benefit consumers in the West.
Paying 20bucks for a cable i can have for just 1, is “benefiting consumers in the west”? Maybe “benefiting greed companies in the west”! Please, seriously, talk for u! As a “consumer in the west” i dont want to be associated with people like u

LOL!

So you bought items you thought were genuine Apple, found out they were fakes and are proud of it? LOL.

Chances are you are not proudly buying counterfeits, you are knowingly buying non-Apple products that are not being sold as genuine and are then proud of your savings. You do you.
An almost perfect lightning cable REPLICA on aliexpress is a counterfeit item. But u pay it 1$ and u buy it from china. I doubt guys above thought they’re buying a genuine product... LOL!
