i've always bought counterfeit accessories and never had a problem. and i will continue to do so. no point in paying the apple tax for them.

Have you been buying counterfeit accessories or just non-Apple accessories (Anker, etc)?

Counterfeit products are pretending to be Apple products and obscuring the name company who really made them. Seems to me this is much more potentially dangerous -- especially when it comes to a lithium battery with lots of fire potential.

ok to clarify, non-apple. but i think a lot of them probably have that apple lightning chip faked

MagSafe is anyway not a good way to charge a device. You loose energy to charge it and also when you charge later your device. If you can't charge with a charger, use external batteries over cable.

It’s gotten to the point where the only safe place to buy accessories like this is from Apple.

I feel the same. Made for iPhone is a worthless tag as it seems anyone can put that label their products and it cannot be verified, and I don’t trust Amazon to sell me something that isn’t a counterfeit.
