Ok, so like an idiot, I went out of the house without my case on my phone. And low and behold it slipped out of my hand and landed right on the camera bump. The camera glass is cracked and missing glass now, the camera works fine but there's sunlight glare now and its letting in a tone of dust. I've heard that the camera glass can't be replaced because it is part of the enclosure. Is there any chance I can go to my nearest Apple Store and walk out with a new phone? (No I don't have apple care. Had the same thing happen on the ancient iPhone 4s and they gave me a whole no phone no charge.)

Nope.

There's a chance but not a likely one. You dropped your phone and broke it. You're looking at an out of warranty replacement.
Ok, just going on the notion that I have heard of people walking in with a similar situation and coming out of the store with a phone no charge. I do have phone insurance with att but I'm not sure if I file a claim will I get the same black 256GB iPhone 7 plus. The other phones don't appeal to me at all.

What? Ins will pay to fix and or replace your phone. Why do you think otherwise?

Get ready to pay the replacement fee.
You clearly damaged it yourself.
Just go in, be honest and explain what happened.
You might get lucky and they might let you slide and not charge you the fee.
If you try to lie and blame the phone or the company or claim it happened by itself and you have no idea you will get nowhere.
Be kind, polite, responsible to the associate and it can get you a lot further than being argumentative. ;)

Yeah, i was hoping I could get a what I got with the iPhone 4s situation. I was bumped on the street and dropped my phone and it cracked. Walked into apple the next day, told them what happened and walked out with a replacement iPhone in less than 30 minutes no fee. If not I'll just use my insurance with At&T and file a claim and pay the deductible but I'm really afraid I won't get the same black iPhone 7 plus as a replacement

You got lucky and they comped you last time
It happens here and there but it's not a guarantee they will waive the fee again.
Hope they take care of you though.
Let us know how you made out.

It happened to me 2 weeks ago, made an appointment at my local Apple Store, went in and walked out with a new iPhone. I have AppleCare Plus though.

I'm just really hoping I could get that with out the apple care like last time. I would be more upset if the replacement I get from my carriers replacement is a iPhone 6 or something.

It does not work that way. The insurance will replace YOUR phone. If you have a 5s, you get a 5s. If you have a 7, you get a 7. Same color and same gb.
Because it says in the information that replacement phone will be either new or att certified used and same model/color/specs not guaranteed

That is new to me. Thanks for posting.
From reading that I think it would be the same model and minimum storage size, just maybe a different color.

Not always. There have been instances where someone broke an older model with high storage capacity, and none of those phones were available, so the customer is given the newer version of equal capacity.

I know, was trying to keep it simple.

And that's the advantage of Apple Care, for these types of situations. It's a great piece Of mind for a larger dollar investment.

You still do not understand. They will replace your phone with the exact same model and color. Why do you think otherwise.
