Non-starter for the watch. As Garmin has taught us, the watch needs to be on you at night to measure your sleep.

And you shouldn't have to find it charging to tell time and wake up. I thought this was a "watch," not a clock.

As far as the phone nightstand mode, ya, no brainer.

Pitiful excuse not to add the feature for those who do charge in a stand... or even propped up.

No worries, we'll get that feature in 2-3 years, that seems the average time of years that Apple likes to be behind on technology it seems

Nope, iOS 11 is perfect for me (6s) absolutely zero issues.

Does pulling down to refresh the mail app not cause the spinner to freeze? How about trying to remove all the iMessage apps from iMessage, see if that doesn't crash it. What about that one where if you just recently returned from landscape mode and open spotlight, the keyboard will still be in landscape while everything else is in portrait. Still on the 6s.

This is what I found in the 2 days it was out.

There's no app for this?? There's gotta be.
Geeze, all they would have to do is stick an 'earthquake mode' checkbox in the Clock app.

Well, they just said that they aren't going to do it, so you are probably right. iPhone XIII.

It wasn't common for people to charge their iPhone on a flat surface wirelessly, now it will become common.

I'm tired of Apple execs finding exclusives for not doing something. Just add the feature and let people decide if this is the way they want to use their iPhone while charging at night. I mean, does Apple have some severely limited R&D budget they can't add usefulness to the product even if some exec doesn't think it is useful?

It's like when Apple does something consumers were not expecting, they praise themselves for thinking different and being innovative. But then asked to do something consumers want and its like "naw, nobody will use it that way".

And then when their backs are turned they pout because they didn't think of it first.

Was going to try for your bug. Had it in landscape, turned to portrait, swiped right (brought up notifications), then either clicked the Home button or just tapped the display to get back to the Launcher and the Dock got stuck at the 'bottom' (by the Home button). Couldn't get it to release even after off/on it until I swiped right, then swiped back left to go back to the Launcher. iPad mini 3 (Not Mac mini. They've abandoned those. :)). Clean install (wiped everything before updating). Other than this it seems to be smoothing out on this iPad. It's not bad.

Can we please have this feature! I already use my iPhone as my main alarm, might as well use it as a “clock” on my nightstand.

My old Nexus5. On a stand up Qi charger. The "dreaming" setup was a digital clock. Every minute, it would fade out and fade back in somewhere else on the screen to avoid burnout. No need to nudge anything. And the built in Android alarm had actual "off" and "snooze" buttons that could be seen and pushed without my glasses on. And oh, That mode initiated when the phone was placed on the stand.

It was useful. One of the things I miss from Android.

It makes sense that the screen needs to be facing you for face ID to work. I am concerned that the iPhone X laying flat on a night table won't "see" your face of u need to wake it up to the home screen. I use Nest thermostat and constantly change the temperature in the middle of the night. Laying on my bed I can touch ID the phone and go to the nest app and open it without facing the phone at all. A standing or laying iphone x should work but I don't know if it will work when your head is buried in a pillow sideways or blocked by sheets or something. I guess I'll find out next month...

I should email him and suggest that an Apple Music subscription should include upgraded iCloud storage. Apple has begun to nickle-and-dime us to death for their services.

Free iMovie upgrades, Free GarageBand upgrades, Free iWork upgrades, Free macOS upgrades, Free iOS upgrades

I'm kind of surprised that over the years there have not been more angled iPhone stands out on the market. Apple's Lightning stand works fine, but it's a bit too lightweight for active touching when on a nightstand. There needs to be something more substantial to allow you to sleepily reach over and nudge / hit your iPhone to activate the screen so you can see what time it is or what notifications you've received.

With Qi charging possible, hopefully there will be more options hitting the market soon. I'm certainly not happy with many of the very tech-y looking Qi chargers available.

Oh, interesting find! Only the landscape bug happened to me but I did not know about it until you mentioned. Who uses their phone in landscape though.

I've charged my phone in a stand for years. How is it no super common? There are tons of stands available on the market, I wouldn't so quickly dismiss the percentage of titled charging iPhones.

You know it's not a real concrete argument when people say 'super'. In reality how would he even know, and either way it would be beyond basic for them to include it regardless if they thought the majority of people would make use of it.

"However, Federighi noted that it's "not currently super common" for people to charge their iPhones that way."

Wow... Craig said that ? I charge my phone all the time like this and will continue to do. How else can u operate a phone at the same time.

Perhaps the link to Mac's not having Touch ? *slant rant*

This is from the same company that said this in 2012 about inductive charging: "Having to create another device you have to plug into the wall is actually, for most situations, more complicated," Phil Schiller.

I don't think we should even try to justify or rationalize these excuses/lies anymore.

Not true. My works' S8 when time is always displayed when phone is off shifts the clock display slowly around the screen to prevent burn in if that's even possible with these new modern screens.

How much do you want to bet the "screen always on when charging" option is missing on the X?
