Brand new unopened base mid-2012 13". I snagged it for $1k, which seems fair for a brand new laptop.
will be ordering an ssd and 16 gb ram this weekend 🙂

Glade all went well, It nice to hear about some good news on craiglist.
I have read so many horror stories, from people being killed by a serial killer to people buying an sealed, brand new, never opened box of rocks. Sadly as the economy become more and more desperate buyers have to be more vigilant.

yes, I guess I can consider myself a craigslist success. As long as youre in a public place, especially a bank or something like that and check everything before the person leaves, I dont see a reason to worry about it
And you're sure it is not stolen? What was his story on why it was unopened? I am sorry, even if it was a gift, who I their right mind wouldn't ask for a gift receipt?
I don't know Apple's policy, but most stores will only give you a gift card/store credit even with a gift receipt.

Half the people on here are the reason I try to avoid Craigslist as much as possible.
If I was selling an unopened computer (anything for that matter), and you came deciding you want to open it up, try out everything, make a new account, and whatnot, I'd tell you to piss off. What happens when you decide to change your mind for who knows what reason? (Maybe you're just screwing with me on purpose with no intention of buying the first place)
That said, congrats to the OP, on the new computer!

You got to take a chance on buying and selling, without doing anything how do you expect buyers to come to you ?
there are good sellers in craigslist, I got my lexus on craigslist, test drive time he did not sit in the car, just gave me the key to let me drive on my own.
