I took some pics of what mine looks like. It's right next to the SIM slot. Kinda annoying, but nothing too serious. I might go get it replaced. Should I?

Looks like someone tried to prize the SIM card holder out with a screwdriver rather than poke a paperclip into the appropriate hole.

Which, if it's a new phone, and you didn't do that yourself, is kind of worrying.

Assuming you didn't cause that I'd make a fuss in a store - a brand new phone should not have been attacked by someone with a screwdriver and no clue.

So I had my genius bar appointment today and they switched my phone out for a new one. Of course I made sure this new phone was flawless :)

Mine has cracks

just like the OP - on the corner near the on/off/sleep button. I wish I had looked at it more carefully yesterday when I bought it.

Here's what it looks like on mine, by the volume button
are they going to replace this? should I go in or call

Just noticed today that mine has a small crack from the headphone bezel to the silver trim piece. Mine is a black iPhone though. I am a tad bit pissed that I have to take this in to apple. Everything else is perfect, IE no light leak, no dead pixels. My luck I will get another POS replacement (with a refurbished SN) with all the aforementioned problems. I think it was a BIG mistake to use regular plastic. They should have mixed it with rubber like compounds or carbon to make it much stronger.

No Cracks Here.

First off, everyone is complaining about the phone being made of plastic. Why??? Phones have been made out of plastic for years. We have been spoiled by the first gen iPhone. I have had my 3G since release and have no cracks in it. I attribute that to the fact that it has been in a case since I bought it. I have a white one and suffered through a black case until they came out with the clear one, but I have no cracks. I am also careful when I put my head phones in so no cracks there either. I am thinking that most of these problems are being cause by either carrying the iPhone around nude, or by a faulty batch. Not because the phone is made of plastic. 99.9% of cell phone are made out of plastic. :apple:
