Nope, you're not the only one. Back a couple weeks ago this computer would crash every couple of days, total meltdown. It would start with a window not wanting to unhide itself or a program no longer responding, then it would move to another program, and another, and eventually the entire operating system would completely melt down and I would be forced to restart. I've also had issues where I completely lose use of my keyboard and track pad or when I click anywhere on the track pad, all I get is a right click and I'm forced to restart. Knock on wood, Lion seems to have started playing somewhat nicely and I haven't had any huge issues as of late. I'm sure they will continue to crop up until Apple finally patches this operating system up.

This is my machine:

Mid 2010 Macbook Pro
500gb WD Black Scorpion
8gb Ram
i5 2.4ghz

Came with Snow Leopard 10.6.3.
Currently I have the lastest Snow Leopard and it runs fine. Actually it is on for 11 days without turn it off.

So, I was reading a book and then I thought: "Hm... how about update to Lion?"
Looking for something to confirm my idea on google and in this forum, but I could only see BAD reviews about it.
Of course I WONT open a thread to ask "does it worth?" because there are a lot...
Anyway, I WILL NOT update to Lion. Damn you, Apple! What the ******* did you do? You screwed this time!

Graphics Drivers?

Maybe so, but there is a picture emrerging here of machine age / spec. I have thrashed my iMac (July 2011) and it just won't crash. One thing here is that several members here, and in other threads report that this happens after the machine has been left running for quite some Time.

I differ, in that I shut mine down at the end of every session of use. I have used Onyx ( free) BETA since I installed Lion, to enable me to run scripts that would normally run if the machine was left idling for a while.

I'm starting to wonder if Apples advice about shutting down completely only if you are not going to be using your mac for a long time may be iffy to say the least.

I'm going to email my Apple guru and ask her what her view is on this. She will tell it like it is. Like I say, mine has simply never crashed under Lion and you would think the stuff I do with it would place a much higher strain on the GPU than most.

High end Video and music work are hard work even for a high spec machine. I like a mystery, and if there are any patches in the pipeline, I will post back here.

When I ordered my new iMac, my Apple friend INSISTED I upgrade to 2gb VRAM and discounted it heavily.....A clue?
