Is the process safe and warranty friendly and Mac compatible?

Yes it's safe, not warranty friendly and it's Mac compatible. If you have any issue that would cause you to go the genius bar, simply restore your phone.

while it may not be warranty friendly a DFU restore will erase any trace of a jailbreak.

Since the link for iPhone Tunnel is no longer working can we use any version of tunnel or must it be 2.7? Only one I have found is 2.7 beta and when I hit "iTunnel" nothing opens.

ive followed all the steps to do this but when i go into the sms sounds ALL the default ones are still there even tho i deleted the sms-received1.caf and put in the one i made in its place, ive tried rebooting but the original sounds are still there  Any ideas? please :(:(

Just get ToneFXS.... geesh

Your guide is simply too long and I don't want all of that software on my PC. Don't be a cheap skate and just buy the ToneFXs app from the Cydia store.

This is a very useful app for anyone that doesn't want to go through the hassle of downloading a bunch of software and wants full customization options. Well worth the $5 I paid.

Yeah I completely agree. It can customize every sound file on the iPhone, and within one click put the default back if you want.

My only gripe is that it only allows mp3's instead of m4a's, or m4r's.... Still MUCH simplier than farting around with the filesystem. I can try out dozens of SMS tones to find the one I really want in seconds.
