I will try it out on my Macbook pro first, then after a little bit of testing I will put it on the Mac Pro.

Not a professional, just don't want to be SOL on both computers if there are problems. Don't really expect any.

However my up to date disk hasn't even shipped according to my order status, so I don't even know when I will be able to.

On second thought, perhaps I will upgrade this weekend. According to this guide, all my apps are compatible with Snow Leopard.

Nice little list there!!
I just spent a while looking through it and as I suspected, ProTools LE isn't even on there!!
Nor is FCP... Kinda odd no-one out there has tested it... maybe the list is slightly out of date?

For anyone else using PT here's the link for forthcoming news:

I've been testing on a second HDD courtesy of my ADC membership, I'm giving it a thumbs-up for permanent install

I work for a company that makes some software for creative types on the Mac... We've been tracking several bugs that occur under FCP that seem to be fixed in 10.6, at least with our stuff.

If you can interrupt your workflow, it's worth it imo.

Actually, our QA department isn't done testing against Snow Leopard, so if everyone can just wait until we're done at least... :p

(Also as a software engineer, I can tell you it performs better overall.)

I've been told to NOT upgrade to SL if you are running FCP7.

I don't know about older versions (I run 6), but I'm not chancing it. I will stay w/ Leopard until I get the all clear.

I would ignore that advice.

Adobe put out an official PDF/letter stating that CS4 will work (too bad for CS3 users I guess?) http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/files/Adobe-SnowLeopard_FAQ.pdf

Now if someone can tell me if my new NEC Spectraview II software will work I will happily upgrade! (I pre-ordered it but I won't install it until I know for sure since it would be a deal breaker)
I calibrated my 2490WUXi last night, after downloading the latest version of Spectraview II. With the 64 bit kernel, you're probably SOL, but with the 32 bit kernel, my MBP successfully calibrated its internal screen using Eye One Match, and its NEC using SV.

In other news, Lightroom works at least well enough not to crash during a cursory overview. For Digital Performer 6, though, it remains to be seen. I'll know more after tonight.

As long as FCS3 and Adobe CS4 works I'll upgrade. Of course I planned to upgrade already.

Snow Leopard Upgrade?

Not sure yet? Like a lot of other users, I have projects running and can't afford messing about! More worried about Colour management software and pro printers I have that may quit.. I will have to do some research into all this.. When I have time..

Here's an interesting thought. I'm hoping FCS now assumes a systemwide gamma of 2.2 now that SL enables it by default.

How compatible is exiting, yet older hardware with Snowy? Especially Graphic cards.

No idea, I have a E09 Mac Pro with a GTX285. Which I have report works very well (no driver issues). Additionally all the applications in CS4 and FC3 works with no problem. Of course I have not done extensive testing.

Oh you have the current MP06 huh!! Wow!! How is it?

Thanks for the info on CS4, I didn't really expect it to die on it's arse though I did think it might be a little less stable than usual, I guess Adobe been good for once by making their applications little more robust, which is always welcoming... just waiting for a 64bit PhotoShop update... perhaps in CS5?

Good news on the 2009 Mac Pro front. Got 10.6 up and running and CS4, FCE, Lightroom 2, Word 2008 all are working with no crashes or abnormalities so far.

The only oddity was my new ICC Profile from Spectraview II (wide gamut NEC) was ignored by Firefox and had to manually told "LOAD THIS PROFILE!" but other than that it fixed my sleeping (and waking right up or locking upon waking) and my random Illustrator crashes.

Let's hope it is just happy trails from here on out right? :D

I did some testing with a Wacon Intuos4 tablet; for some reason it crashed Photoshop CS4. I'm not sure if it's a Wacom issue or a CS4 issue.

It's very nice. It's quite fast with it's 4x VelociRapters :D.

I had a few hiccups installing 10.6 Server on it. My Ethernet stopped working (both of them) and I had to reset the SMC 3 times and the PRAM twice before it started working again. It's running Time Machine for all the machines on the network, and file sharing is easy to use. I might trunk my two Ethernet ports, but I haven't found the need to do so,
