Rule of thumb, never ever use debit cards. Retailer mistakes come out of your accounts. Real credit cards have protection.

Confused:

1. Threads say usually must use credit card. I used debit card.
2. During the order, the agent said she was not sure but since the system took the debit card, it is OK.
3. My confirmation says all ok but mentions if debit card was used, it could delay things since they would need to call me. Would this call only be if there was a problem (not enough funds?) ?
4. My debit card shows the charges already have been made.
5, Should I try to change to a credit card now or let it go?
Any card can act like either debit or credit.

When is it debit?

When you enter PIN during the transaction.

When is it credit?

When you DO NOT enter PIN during the transaction.

So is it clear now why your transaction was a credit-type transaction?

Assuming, CUSTOMER_PRESENT flag is true.

I use Amex for all my online purchases. The $150 annual fee has always paid for itself several times over ever year.

And i quit using my AMEX the day they approved a charge on a card that had been reported stolen, without asking the merchant to verify ID of the person using the card. They claimed that asking for ID would have infringed upon my privacy as a cardholder. But hey, taking a $5/hr cashiers word was cool in their book.

Different strokes for different folks.....

True and false.

Extra charges do come out of your account, but the protection is the same in the end, it just takes extra time to process and get your money back into your account, whereas with a credit card they can take advantage of the grace period to deal with the issue.

Doesn't matter what you use. If it's approved its approved and you're charged. If you can't pay it back that's ok too the bank knows where you live.

I used my Debit card for my 4S, however I am an international student (No SSN or credit) so an additional deposit of 400USD was required and proof of immigration. It will be returned after a year with interest.

My card has been charged yet and my order has been processed. It'll be charged after my phone has shipped, just like all my other online purchases.
