What you're doing is giving your attention to and sharing content you don't like. Just mute those accounts and words on topics you don't like and move on. Or use a different app. Problem solved. It's not complicated.

Oh I’ve long since left twitter.

But I admit it’s fun to point and laugh at the dumpster fire now and then.

A guilty pleasure.

I don't mind X, tbh. I mute stuff I don't like and try not to give energy to those things I don't like. What you focus on only increases.

One thing that’s driven me crazy on Twitter in the dramatic increase in bots with blue checkmarks, that are obviously using AI or something to generate automatic replies to posts. They try to create engagement to get revenue. It’s just endless in the replies to popular posts.

In the case of X, users can exclusively stay on the Following tab, should they wish to only see content they are interested in.
The algorithm also applies to the order of replies/comments on posts. So even if you are only on the following tab you are affected.
And if accounts stop posting as much because they are getting less engagement because many of their followers use the For You section, that still affects me.

Try visiting YouTube not logged in, it's like landing in hell. I found IG more mentally draining than X tbh. YouTube I use mostly for long form content from accounts I subscribe to.
The primary reason I use YouTube is to watch videos. Even if there were no comments I'd regularly use the site.

I primarily used Twitter for links to other content and to see interaction between users. That has gotten worse under the new ownership.

More recently X has noticeably began to push opposing viewpoints in the For You tab. The opposite to what you usually consume. For the For You tab it would be nice to have a drop down to choose from many different viewpoints and moods.
I haven't seen it recently, so I can't directly comment on that.
I followed a juggler on Twitter. Does that mean I'd get anti-juggling content? ;)

Many accounts I followed have moved on from Twitter and now use other services. The aforementioned juggler. I didn't follow many celebrities, but I followed Weird Al, and he hasn't posted on Twitter for over a year, but posts on Bluesky now. Neither of them pretty much ever delve into political topics, yet they still left (no big announcement or anything, they just stopped posting).

I'm pretty sure they were showing an example of censorship to combat the narrative that X doesn't censor legal content.
