I was even once recommended Crucial RAM by a .... genius at an Apple retail store, after I asked him about the best place to buy extra RAM

I have bought Crucial memory upgrades for 4 machines - they work.

FYI, for a few days, the price went back up but as of right now, it's back at that $55- $20MIR (mail-in rebate) = $35 price. :)

Ordered, delivered, and installed the ram. I can confirm that it fits and runs in a C2D iMac 20" perfectly.

The install was painless, perhaps the easiest ram install ever (I have been a pc techie for years).

Apple uses RAM from Samsung, Hynix and Micron (Crucial's parent company) and a couple of others. Every intel Mac that I have upgraded so far has used Hynix 512 Mb modules, but this will vary month to month with Apple's supply contracts.

Just curious, which branded RAMs are manufactured by Hynix?

Ta.

Just installed 2 Gb into my Macbook C2d. Runs like a charm and is wonderful for Parallels. Highly recommended!

anyone see anything for a 2gb stick for the 15" 2.16ghz macbook pro C2D?

Just grabbed the 2gb module mentioned in my quote from OWC for $129 + tax + shipping. Looking forward to running parallels, FCE 3.5, etc. with it.
