I kind of want to swap an SSD into my late 2010 iMac now too... :p That thing feels slow as hell in comparison.

The harder part is finding that proprietary screwdriver macs use to pull off the 4 screws that you need to put on to your new drive to lock it in place. Their are 2 on each side of the longer side of the HDD...

It is not a proprietary screwdriver. It is a standard T6 Torx head screwdriver that can be had at most hardware sections of stores. I bought mine years ago at the local Home Depot.

I'm still wary that I blew 400 bucks... but damn does this computer feel like a new kick ass computer now... if it wasn't for the flickering I get while using the 9400m. This would be a brand new computer to me..

I wouldn't worry -- in a few weeks you wont feel any regret (if the thing keeps working) and all you will remember is the faster computron.

So far I'm loving it! Fastest computer ever! If only the 9400m didn't have the flicker issue, I would have the perfect machine.

I have had this SSD for about a month without problems in a mid 2010 MBP 15 and had had no problems. 0006 firmware.

I haven't regretted this purchase since I put it in my laptop! It was a lot of money but damn is it cool!

Go to the XBench web site and you can search for "C300" and fine many tests with that drive.

If you upload your test too the XBench site you can also compare your results to others. Very useful.

For example, here are the test results for my 2011 13" MBP with a Intel 510 SSD.

Install was easy... I have a 2.5 inch HDD USB external drive case... so I just plugged it into the SATA port minus the case and used Carbon Copy Cloner. It was easy... and about 10X faster than transferring anything to an HDD... not literally just felt 10X faster. I had just restored my OSX last week though so my install was pretty fresh.

If you mean physically it's beyond simple... more simple than changing the RAM out in my case. I have the 2008 with the removable battery. The HDD is next to the battery so after unlatching the cover it's just 1 screw to unhinge the HDD from the computer and pulling out the SATA port shouldn't need to be mentioned it's so easy.

The harder part is finding that proprietary screwdriver macs use to pull off the 4 screws that you need to put on to your new drive to lock it in place. Their are 2 on each side of the longer side of the HDD... the holes are built into all HDD and SSD. But swap out 4 screws lock back into place and voila... done. I have to take out 8 more screws to get to my RAM... so that's why changing out the HDD is easy for me... for you, you'll have to take off that plate on the back of your MBP... so changing the RAM and the HDD are pretty much the same.

you need an allen bolt ,or allen key for the screws on the sides of 2.5 inch hard drives, but, you can use a pair of pliars if you are very careful.[not recommended]with cloth to protect,i have wiout probs.or t6 torq will work too,but can use small allen key

It's not an allen bolt... it's a star shaped... I picked one up on ebay for like 2 bucks... but that was a few years ago. I bet they are more available now.

Did you see the TRIM support Enabled thread?!!!

Can a person get TRIM support on this SSD with Cindori's hack? I'm trying to decide which SSD to get for my upcoming macbook pro purchase, and the C300 is in the lead right now. Interested in TRIM support though.

Yes I got TRIM support on mine. Works great as far as I can tell... well at least Mac OS says it's activated... I wouldn't know for a fact if the TRIM was actually working though. I hope it is. :p

TRIM works fine. If you look at my XBench scores, that's with TRIM running. I've filled and erased the drive about 5 times already and my performance is still high.

They have a FreeDOS boot CD here you can use on a Mac. Just use the ISO they give you to make a boot CDRom.

Sorry to hijack but is an SSD worth considering on a 2008 Non Unibody Macbook Pro ?

I put an SSD in a 2008 MBP and it made a huge difference in day to day use. After you install the SSD you will give up any thoughts of getting a new machine. If you have the money, do it.

The C300 is very, very underrated speed wise and service life wise. It's a good system, keep it.

Forget XBench for SSD test, use the free AJA system test, that will give you some real results for your SSD.

I've got a C300 in my '10 MBP i7, and will be getting the Vertex 3 the day it comes out.
