We love to cruise... Been on a few, Our favorite one thus far was an eight day cruise out of Puerto Rico to the Virgin Islands. Loved it!!

The only thing we don't like, is at times, they can feel very rushed when you hit land. If you are into doing sight seeing etc, to us, they can feel rushed since you usually only have "X" hours on land.
Yea I'd almost rather just sail and have cool stuff on the ship. One wrong move on an excursion and it's a mega hassle to get back in the flow. Even worse if you don't have a full passport

If you want to really spend time in a place, cruises don’t cut it. A good example is a vacation we did to Normandy. We spent a week there seeing the sites, and enjoying the local cuisine. On the way from we stopped and spent a day at Versailles, going back to Paris, we visited Giverny to see Monet’s garden.

When I imagine a cruise to Normandy, it would be 8 hours to see whatever highlights that can be fit into that time period, which if you were going to see a beach landing site, visit a cemetery, and one of the significant towns say Sainte-Mère-Église, along or near the coast, this might be enough, but as you said, it would feel rushed, even though we enjoy cruises for certain experiences. A 2 week Med Cruise, covered more distance and we saw more sights than we could hope to do on our own in one vacation. :)

Agree. If we do take a cruise, we just do the beaches now or something along the lines of just shopping. If we want to come back to a location to spend some time, we will vacation there.

We do want to take one of the Viking cruises through a few of the countries in Europe... I like they fact they are smaller than your average cruise line. But, are next trip is going to be England and Germany... not on a cruise lol.

The Viking River Cruise longboats used to be about 125 pax, but think they are bigger now like 190. The Viking Ocean Cruise ship holds about 950, a very agreeable size.
