What do you think, can graphic performance be used for cryptomining? It should be powerful as dedicated graphics that are unavailable..
I saw on reddit someone reported 10 TH/s.

I am curious if mining software could be more optimalized for M1 Max and maybe utilize some more specific parts of Apple SOC. On this picture is for example part called "cryptography acceleration" see: https://images.macrumors.com/t/DOph.../article-new/2019/11/applesiliconbenefits.jpg

Thanks for that. If that's accurate and without further optimization, I'd be looking at $15-$20/mo profit, which, isn't bad, but presumably would need to go to the 16" for high power mode which I don't want to do.

You will not make a cent. You have to factor the machine costs, electricity and what else much more productive and profitable you could have done instead with that time, energy and cost.

Don’t say there is free electricity. Even if a landlord or college includes it in rent if they see high energy charges those rent increases will come and when they come it won’t just be on your head. The landlord will have an excuse to put it on everyone’s head.

This guy..

Oh god this buzzkill is back. Anyways. The mining rate is not that great. M1 Max running at 10.25M/H in high power mode is like 1/3 of a 1660 super running on nice hash. So even though ponzibro is who he is he doesnt seem wrong here in that you won’t make much.

Well lets factor in the huge amounts of electricity for a dedicated Crypto Mining box, and it's costs are pretty much inline with a US priced top spec'd MBP M1 Max.

The power efficiency and savings on such a MBP would fully negate power costs comparitively to a PC + 3080 (power drain) or a dedicated crypto PC.

I think next 2 generations of Apple Silicon would balance out or even favour more for this platform. All the power outtages in China (factories, chip fabs, and huge illegal crypto mining) I'm all sure lead to that. imagine much more efficient cpu's running for 100's K's of users in a nation you'd see huge power grid benefits of a lot less drain.

I have an m1Max Maxed out. and it does about 10.33/mh so about 45-55 cents a day. And it gets HOT! Not worth it imo to add the heat wear to the machine. Id rather have it for 2 years sell it for 2/3rd the original value and upgrade.
