Apple should hire me to work at their new campus. I have the skill set and qualifications to be an asset to their company. I will create more than enough value to justify my compensation. My first suggestion would be for their marketing team to get Jonathan Ive a proper wardrobe so he can stop embarrassing himself with V-necks and chest hair in all of his new product promotional videos.

Steve would never have allowed this.

Money can be spent better otherwise.

It was Steve's idea. In actual fact he wanted to spend MORE on different flooring structure. Tim veto'd it otherwise it would have been billions more (and no I'm not exaggerating).

Either way, the actual design was done by Fosters, the same people who built the MTC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLaren_Technology_Centre

That's where the design idea started out.

Sound wall

I bet the sound wall will be black on the outside, and they will hire extra staff to remove graffiti and every speck of dust every two hours :)

Right because Apple is a university now and I can enrol in a bachelor of computer engineering...etc at Apple University. Nope? Oh right... it's just a training facility for Apple staff? Great.

How long has this been in the pipeline anyway? 10 years at least? I assumed it had already been built.

You know 'campus' doesn't mean 'university,' right? This is a huge office building, to house 12,000 of Apple's employees.

Presumably the large "underground parking facility" is, in fact, where the engines/reactors will go.

Has anyone noticed that if they made it a bit taller, it would look like the new Mac Pro ?

I think it's hard to fully appreciate how big this building will be unless one is lucky enough to see it in person. It's Apple's Pentagon.

It does actually...

Microsoft, Google and Apple use it for office buildings the make themselves sound less corporate, my comment is specifically about how it's really weird that they do this given a campus = the grounds for a university.

I look forward to your wannabe tech boy 'nah man you're wrong!!!' comments.

I wonder if they will fit it together using glue so it's almost impossible to worn on it if it need repair in a few years time?
;)

Oh and all the area people want to get to they will move around the back

2 : a university, college, or school viewed as an academic, social, or spiritual entity
3 : grounds that resemble a campus <a hospital campus> <a landscaped corporate campus>

I look forward to your next incorrect correction

cam·pus [kam-puhs] noun, plural cam·pus·es.
1. the grounds, often including the buildings, of a college, university, or school.
2. a college or university: The large influx of older students radically changed many campuses throughout the country.
3. a division of a university that has its own grounds, buildings, and faculty but is administratively joined to the rest of the university.
4. the world of higher education: Foundation grants have had a marked effect on the character of the American campus.
5. a large, usually suburban, landscaped business or industrial site.

Of course they would approve

Apple's design is better, though. The surface carparks at GCHQ are ugly and a huge waste of space.

GCHQ is a very sensitive government installation and under ground car parks create a huge security headache. I doubt very much that it was an oversight or design flaw.

Not having hundreds of combustable vehicles filled with fuel under your building is good thing in this day and age. It removes the chances of smuggling in intentionally exploding vehicles etc.

Just go and ask your friendly local neighbourhood terrorist, which he would prefer his (or her) chances at?

Also "come the revolution", those car parks will serve well, as moden day 'Castle Killing Grounds'... ;)
