You have flashed PC version of the X1900...ever thought that could be the problem??

Well part of the problem is I have it tuned to full speed (650/700 core/mem).

Other than that, no chance. A GPU should not be able to heat itself into artifacts unless overclocked or improperly ventilated.

Keep in mind I have it setup to put the GPU fan on max when it hits 60C.

I was going to replace the cooler with a Zalman uber cooler but it didn't fit in the mac pro's case in slot 1. My friend bought it off me for almost what I paid so I'm not that pissed.

I was going to buy another cooler but instead I'm waiting for card updates and listening to my lawnmower in the meantime.

Oh, also, a LOT of Apple's (detuned, pre-flashed) X1900 cards have been sent back to because of quality control problems. Apple knows this product is crap, which is why I'm sure they're working hard to remove it from the product line (probably have an outstanding contract with ATI/Foxconn).

Also what's C&C3??? I'm not good at de-scrambling words, so please put a full product name.

As far as MY mac goes (Only 2 months old) I have yet to have a problem with the ATI card, except under Windows/Bootcamp, but that's understandable. I have not played a single game on this computer, and don't plan to either...for Cinema4D work, it is excellent...also once the OpenGL drivers come for AECS3, I will be much more excited.

not to mention the glossy screen on all the new imacs. YUCK for FCS, photoshop and maya.

I think Apple basically has everything laid out now to execute the back to school shopping season and then go into the Christmas season. We most likely will see a new iPod and then Leopard in October. No new Mac Pro until after the first of the year.

Apple is tweaking everything right now to optimize sales for the balance of the year. Leopard will generate additional interest/sales in the Mac lines for the balance of the year. Why introduce new hardware when they will have the halo effect from Leopard to sell additional Mac Pro's. They will get an additional bump in sales just like they got when Adobe released CS3.

I also think that they are going to have to spend some additional time & resources to get the recently released iMac 2007 straightened out from the sounds of it, they won't want to take on any additional new product intros until everything is stabilized.

You might want to consider cleaning the air intake fins as well as the fan blades themselves. It is a magnet for dust.

Now what happens if or when Apple runs out of the so called "discontinued" ATI Graphic cards before January?

I think Apple has enough cards, I read somewhere that FoxConn actually makes the ATI x1900 that Apple uses in the Mac Pro. ATI may have discontinued the retail card, doesn't affect Apple.
