Hey guys so I have a Ultra 2, its great but I hardly use the features on it.

I like the battery and the bulkiness of it, but I'm seriously thinking of going for the 46mm Series 10.

My friend has offered £450 for my Ultra 2, so I can use that to get a Series 10.

I'd like to start wearing my watch while I'm asleep and I think the thinness and size will help with the comfort of that.

Plus, the polished aluminum looks really good.

What's everyone's thoughts, are other people thinking the same?

Unless you plan on charging before and after sleeping with it on, the U2’s battery would do better in this area.

30 mins to an 80% charge is making me think it won't be an issue tbh. Plus with the new SIP, will it be faster than the already quick SIP in the Ultra 2? The new screen and tbh all the new stuff are making me think it might be a good choice tbh. Plus I'm keeping my stainless steel link band, and thinking might go well with the all black.

Same display size, same available features, you have the longer lasting battery, & you will be losing $ with the trade if you get the series 10 = No.
Series 10 screen: 416x496 pixels, 1,220 sq mm display area
Ultra 2 screen: 410x502 pixels, 1,185 sq mm display area
Newer SIP on the series 10 too.

Really depends if you need the longer battery life (very useful for long workouts that are GPS-hungry, like hiking) and the higher screen brightness (simply great for any outdoor activity in the sun).

Really a matter of personal preference at this point, no one can make the decision for you.

I ordered a 10 to replace my Ultra 1.
The battery from the Ultra was never a thing for me as I still charge nightly as my past watches.
I wanted something lighter and with a big display hopefully this time the watch faces and workout metrics will match the screen size.
I use the AW 6 to wear while sleeping for now and the 10 will be a tad lighter.

Negligible sq mm by human eye standards increase, a new SIP unknown if any better than your U2, & your U2 having brighter NITs vs S10. If it was me & I had the bug to buy, I would take a couple shots of small batch & wait until at least Black Friday or Amazon Prime Day to see if the S10 gets a price reduction.

I have the U2 and had the U1 previous year so just for a change I'm going for the Slate 46mm S10 with Nike Sport Loop & Link Bracelet.

I'm keeping my U2 and may get the Milanese strap for it but it'll mainly be for sleep tracking.

Would have gone with a U3 in black if it had happened and although I REALLY like the new black satin DLC finish, I can't justify the money just to change colour of something I already have. Will be nice to have a new design on my wrist again and if next year there's an U3, I'll be on it, Especially if they change the design a little.

You'll get Apple's sleep apnea detection on your Ultra 2 later in the fall.

You say you like the bulkiness of the 2 already.

How uncomfortable have you found sleeping with the 2?! Sometimes, what is off-putting at first becomes comfortable with more time.

You'll lose a lot of battery life switching to the 10 from the Ultra…

Sounds like you're just wanting a change as we usually get it every year. Things you will lose leaving the UW2:
1. Brighter screen in daylight. 3000 vs 2000 nits
2. Dual band GPS
3. 100m water resistance
4. Action button (I use mine all the time for flashlight)
5. Longer battery life

As far as the S9 vs S10 we don't know if there is much of a difference in speed. Apple didn't advertise it as %30 faster etc. like they usually do. The UW2 is as fast as it needs to be. Overall, I feel this would be a downgrade but the 10 is more classical and less of a sports watch.

I ordered a s10 jet black aluminum as a companion to my Ultra 1, not to replace it. The Ultra will still be my daily driver, I love it so much.

I am also thinking about switching from my Ultra 2 to the new 46mm Series 10. I like my Ultra 2 for the most part, but I have never been a fan of how heavy and thick it is. Now that we are entering into Fall and I am wearing hoodies and long sleeves again, I quickly remembered how annoying it is getting it snagged and caught on my long sleeve cuffs. That's an issue that rarely happened with my old Series 4. Now that the new Series 10 is even thinner I think I might be switching to the Series 10.

The difference in screen size is really not something the naked eye will notice or care about.
The SIP in the series 10 is not a significant bump over the Ultra 2.
The battery life and brightness of the Ultra 2 is better.

AND YET...

They are both great watches. No one should be upset that the Ultra 2 is a 2023 model and feel like it is inferior to the S10. The S10 has no real advancements over the already better Ultra line other than those above which you are doubtful to notice in use.

Get the watch you want.

I have had the Ultra 1 for two years and I preorder the S10. In some ways I have missed the S series, but I am wondering if I will miss the Ultra when I do not have it anymore! I figure I will ride with the S10 for awhile and see what the Ultra 3 brings. By that point I will have decided if I want to go back to an Ultra.

I did the same thing, I wanted to update the Ultra 1 to the Ultra 2 but then I figured there is not much of a difference and having a second watch means I can wear it when the other one is charging. S10 jet black looks really nice.

SIP 10 on the series 10 and SIP 9 on the UW2 are the same ships. Just a rebrand name.

I've not read any reports that the Modular Ultra is available on the S10; still just the Ultra models IFAIK.
That could be a dealbreaker for me. Modular Ultra is my workday face so it’s probably the one that I actually use the most.
Hopefully reviewers will be thorough with S10 vs Ultra comparisons.
