As of today, I'm seeing a pop-up at the bottom of the screen (like you would a cookie pop-up) that won't go away, no matter that I've clicked 'Accept All' and have my ad-blocker disabled for this site.

I don't believe there have been any recent changes to my browser or OS versions, so am assuming this is a forum change?

Hey

We didn’t change anything though our ad network may have and they control that pop up. What browser? And I assume you are located in Europe somewhere?

Is it on every page load? Or after a period of time?

Let me follow up with them.

Same here.

Every page, every time. Site and forums. Despite updating the preferences.

Safari 13.1, Catalina.

Using Safari 13.1 (15609.1.20.111.8) on MacOS 10.15.4 (supplemental update). Based in the UK.

Happens every page load.

I assumed it had something to do with European GDPR, but normally that's a one-time pop-up to set the preferences (i.e. allow cookies for site personalisation & measurement, but nothing for 3rd parties).

But it doesn't matter whether I turn all options on, all options off, or just click 'accept all', the pop-up comes back every time.

Have sent an email to the support desk as requested - with a link to this forum post.

The content also had some initial testing by me to state that Firefox, Brave and Edge Chrome all work as expected (even though Firefox & Brave had ad-blocking enabled) - but it's Safari I use on sites where I allow ads/cookies/trackers.

Same here.... every page load brings the pop-up (started yesterday). Every time I click "accept all" it still pops up on every page load.

I'm using Safari Version 10.1.1 (12603.2.4) MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 based in UK

You should, at a minimum, run software update to get 10.12.6 and a newer version of Safari on the computer.

Looks like the solution for now is to clear any cookies relating to macrumors.com domains and reboot the browser.

Investigation is underway as to why there seems to be duplicate cookies being created - which seems to be causing the symptoms some of us are seeing.

Yep..

If anyone runs into this. Clear your MacRumors cookies, and that will fix it going forward.

If you open a private browsing window and visit multiple pages, does it pop up for you on every page there?

I'm also in the UK and have been getting this the last couple of days - both on my Mac/Safari and on my work PC/Edge. I've just tried deleting the MR cookies on Safari and restarting as suggested above but the issue was still there, though once I logged in to MR forums it stopped.

Clearing the cookies in Firefox on Leap 15 has made no difference. Still pops up on every page but not when I open a private browsing window and visit multiple pages.

Greatly appreciated! The popup appears once more, but dismiss it and it seems to be gone for good.

It was getting VERY annoying, given how large it is onscreen. I've no doubt people would start avoiding the site because of it. Thanks again!

Huh. A private window should be the equivalent of clearing your cookies. Unless are there any cookie blocking extensions that aren’t active in private browsing?

I also have this problem. I also see the pop up in when logged in, and also when in a Private browsing window.
It has been bugging me for months...
macOS 10.14.6
Safari 12.1.2

I’d expect the pop up with private window.

but otherwise should pop up once when you are usually a normal browser. Does it happen every page load?

Yes. Every time I first open up a Macrumours page. If I click Allow it goes away, but it happens every session. Is that normal?

are you clearing cookies in between sessions?

I’m not doing anything. Just open Preview and then click a thumbnail from the grid to open macrumors.
I get a pop up all the time on my phone and iPad too. It is annoying as hell.
Happens on almost every web page I visit.

If it’s happening every time, and on other websites, it sounds more like you’ve enabled the “Block all cookies” setting in your safari prefs.
