I was starting same project back then 2015-2016 when building my hackintosh. My hackintosh is put inside my 2010 cheese grater dead machine. Instead of replacing damaged boards I’m initiated to transform something different.

My design is bit different, but fundamentally same.

Regarding FireWire 800 ports, on my front board is just for cosmetics setup only. It have no wiring since firewire connectivity on my hackintosh supplied from PCIe FireWire cards.

Re purposing with USB type C ports would be nice, but required me to adding some additional housing, light grey ABS plastics would be good.
Hello, any new with this project ? I'll love to get some of this customPCB.

is this project still alive? I am using an old mac pro 1,1 from 2006 as a Windows PC case and want a more modern compatible front I/O but I can't find the latest files to download, only the one from the first post.

An info the card that allows you to do this (I attach photos) where can you buy?

be nice if someone sold something similar to either project in this thread particularly with usb c, unfortunately I'm not good with measurements let alone design and I do not have a good soldering iron let alone hot air flow station, wouldn't mind spending 40-50usd for something like this, ok with doing something different than some others tho as suggested by one post in this thread drilling and tapping... not sure why a lot of people modding older mac pro's are just using epoxy I would imagine drilling and tapping would be easier just saying shrugs

Hey guys, sorry for necro, but I've been working on the Mac Pro ATX conversion for quite some time. The front panel could never let me sleep peacefully, I am about to test it out, but here is a 5G front panel hub that uses single 19 pin usb 3 header and 4pin molex for additional power, it has 2 usb C ports with 1.5A power and 2 usb A ports, also has a usb DAC for audio since it is nearly impossible to find 7mm center offset audio jack with isolated switches to be compatible with AAFC standard so i decided to use DAC. If successful, I can post it for sale, like on eBay or something, to recover some costs for the initial build and parts. I also tried to make a simple version using Type-E connectors, but most motherboards don't have that many ports, and cables are a pain to source, where is 19pin usb3 cables are widely available. Sizewize i maid it such that it should fit 3.1-5.1 macs, unsure about 1.1-2.1 because I don't have it. If anyone can attache a measurements for 1.1-2.1 front panel, then i can make sure that it fits it as well. Judging by Google pictures 1.1-3.1 front panel look identical, but I don't want to make an assumption that the polt pattern is the same. Enjoy!
