Anyone order a CTO MacBook Pro and see any activity on their order? I ordered a custom 17" 2.3GHz w/ 512 SSD 8GB Ram, and was curious how long it might realistically take to ship.

4,000 dollar computer . Would have cost you >1000 bucks for the SSD and >100 bucks for the ram if you just bought it from a 3rd party and did it yourself.

Man you got ripped off for that RAM and SSD.

I have to agree. Why did you pay so much for those upgrades when they're way way way cheaper to buy yourself and do at home. Not to mention you probably could have got the computer faster by getting a more basic set up. What a waste of money.

Maybe he got a corporate discount like I did, so it doesn't really matter. Or maybe he doesn't have the time to do it himself and has the money. :)

Because my time isn't free.

^ This.

I love how all these people complain at other people for paying for upgrades and the like. You do realize people have their own free will and an ability to make their own choices? I'll do a RAM upgrade myself, but I decided to take Apple up on their offer for my SSD and they can warranty it for 3 years.

So what I'm trying to say is; ****.

Hmm, spend an hour of my time or save over a thousand dollars.:p

First, I appreciate the comments. If you wouldn't mind, point me to a supplier of SSDs that are compatible, and if the cost difference is truly significant, I'll change my order. They haven't shipped it yet.

I ordered a 15" + 128GB SSD + HR Display last night. Order still showing "Hasn't shipped".

I went with the 128GB SSD because I couldn't find a 128GB SSD for cheaper than the extra $90 on the BTO, and I have plenty of 500GB HDDs lying around to throw in an optibay.

LOL and maybe he does not have a discount. Anyone can say they have a discount.

first off, congrats on your beast of a machine.
secondly, I ordered mine earlier today and have yet to see any activity. But from past experience, I would give it some more time. Apple is probably slammed at the moment with orders coming in. But I do know that they make up for the shipping time with actual delivery time.

I am from Europe and ordered a CTO for the early 2010 model when it was just released it took about 4 weeks from order till delivery.
The waiting game is no fun, but all good things come to those who wait.

Not sure why any of you would knock this guy? Only explanation is jealousy. Good for him that he can afford to go and spend that kind of money- if I could, I would do the same thing..

Dont understand all the hate..

Ordered a base 15" with the hi-res glossy display, not yet shipped. Estimated delivery date range is February 28 through March 4th.

Yet my 8GB of Crucial memory ($92, what Apple actually ships), 500GB Momentus XT ($99), Office 2011, VMWare Fusion and my incase neoprene sleeve are here impatiently waiting for its arrival.
