Anyone order a CTO MacBook Pro and see any activity on their order? I ordered a custom 17" 2.3GHz w/ 512 SSD 8GB Ram, and was curious how long it might realistically take to ship.
Man you got ripped off for that RAM and SSD.
4,000 dollar computer. Would have cost you >1000 bucks for the SSD and >100 bucks for the ram if you just bought it from a 3rd party and did it yourself.
I have to agree. Why did you pay so much for those upgrades when they're way way way cheaper to buy yourself and do at home. Not to mention you probably could have got the computer faster by getting a more basic set up. What a waste of money.
Because my time isn't free.
^ This.Maybe he got a corporate discount like I did, so it doesn't really matter. Or maybe he doesn't have the time to do it himself and has the money.![]()
Hmm, spend an hour of my time or save over a thousand dollars.![]()

Have you guys even looked into the cost of a 512 GB SSD? Apple's actually pretty competitive with the SSD pricing. In fact $1300 was the cheapest I could find on newegg. Apple charges $1100.

I love how all these people complain at other people for paying for upgrades and the like. You do realize people have their own free will and an ability to make their own choices? I'll do a RAM upgrade myself, but I decided to take Apple up on their offer for my SSD and they can warranty it for 3 years.
So what I'm trying to say is; ****.
You act as if you're paying for this persons MBP... /kicking you off your high horse.Lame excuse. My time is not free as well. I have to fight for free time. But I still fit in ways to save money and this would have been one I fit in.
It's actually very easy to get a discount if you know people. I have access to 3 discounts personally, all of them the same, but just as a point of reference. The pricing with a discount is very competitive.LOL and maybe he does not have a discount. Anyone can say they have a discount.
Ordered a base 15" with the hi-res glossy display, not yet shipped. Estimated delivery date range is February 28 through March 4th.
Yet my 8GB of Crucial memory ($92, what Apple actually ships), 500GB Momentus XT ($99), Office 2011, VMWare Fusion and my incase neoprene sleeve are here impatiently waiting for its arrival.
