Hey, I have that wallpaper!

Nice job. What did you do the Apple logo exactly? It's hard to tell from the pics.

apart from Vista, it's pretty sweet mod. Wow!

It probably won't work on the unibody mbp because the paint would just fill in the tiny speaker holes.

mod

well the jewel is not transparent so i put wax until it get transparent and print a pic of that wallpaper of the same size ,stick it from the back and put a blue plastic firm in back of the of pic so it light blue too

Oh I would *love* to do this!

I'd pay an Apple tech to disassemble and get my Dads company (car garage) to do a spray job.

I wonder if it would work with Unibody MBP's,

Anyone heard of any stories outside of Colorware? (I'm in the UK)

vista

ey I am sorry about the vista, I do use leopard too is better than vista
but I am a gamer so until all games run on mac i got to have partition with windows

I'm going to bet the trackpad won't work after that (colorware don't even paint the trackpad). Don't forget the keyboard is also screwed to the top case by over 80 screws and the screen can't be disassembled without harms. Take all this into account and if you're still sure you want to do this, go ahead.

In this case, I can see why Colorware charge the big bucks for the Unibody painting.

I wouldn't do the trackpad.

Plus, I'm guessing the OP would have tested the trackpad before posting photo's etc.

Unibody MBP's

yes it can be done is going to be more easy because there is less parts to remove
the small holes in the speakers yes they will get seal with paint but they can be reopen from the back with a tiny file
the new 17'' i going to be my next project

Let me know how you get on with that, I'm really interested in this, even if its just for the top outer casing.

PeterQC yes it work

I verify that before i do it, the keyboard don't have 80 screws more like 10 under it not that hard to remove
if anybody doubt that the track pad work I post a video in youtube to prove it
the invisible shied do the same thing and still work i can put a piece of plastic on top and still work

Pretty sweet mod, now only if you could somehow dye the keys blue!

Oh lord no!

I'd have left the trackpad untouched for sure, as well as the keys.

I'd have probably just done the external sides, and left the insides, or done them a complimentary colour.

But each to his/her own ;)

That looks superb.
I really really like the new apple logo.
imho though it would have looked better done on a unibody - the black keys would have complemented the new colour. and the grey optical drive wouldnt have been so obvious :p

great job tho!

I like the original slick color better, but it's really nice to paint my MBP by myself. Can I ask why you didn't paint the power adapter/code? Is it more difficult, or do you like it that way?

that is a pretty ugly computer.

but congrats on doing it. whatever makes you happy (this is a matter of opinion dont take it personally)

anyways...

the unibody would be very easy to paint. but i love mine and if i wanted a new color... say hello to an incase.

congrats again on pulling it apart and putting it back together.
