you already know logically a fresh jailbreak is the way to go. using pkgbackup or appbackup a fresh jailbreak can be done in half a hour. So the question is why torture yourself. this is a huge thread for only a couple people having this issue. ;)

My biggest hesitation with that is that I should probably set the phone up as new after that too, and that's going to cause me to lose an awful of settings, data in my apps, etc. Restoring it from a backup is most likely going to bring the same problem back, no?

Thinking about this some more, I guess I could use the dropbox option in pkgbackup to backup all of my app store data (and jb apps of course); however, I do have a question about it. Under options I see "Apple Stock apps" and those are obviously the preinstalled apps. I cannot choose my camera roll videos because they are too big (there's a 300MB limit for file upload). Will I lose those videos if I set my phone up as new? I did sync my phone so I have a backup but if I don't restore from that backup, how will I get those videos (and my pictures) back?

I have backed up and restored over a gb of photo's. you are really over thinking this. sell you phone and buy a factory unlocked. with all the frustration you have had it's the best way to go.

Nah - I don't need to go to that extreme. I've just always restored from backup so I'm a little unsure about how things work when you set the phone up as new. I know that pkgbackup with the dropbox option will back up all of the data for my app store apps but since I can't select the camera roll option for backup, how do I get the pics and videos back on my phone? Will simply syncing with itunes bring them back?

As long as you had previously sync'd them with iTunes and they reside on your computer already, then a simple resync after restore will move them back over.

Thank you! I kind of figured that but didn't explicitly see anything in itunes. I know there are sync settings for Photos but that looks like it's for iphoto and I don't sync my iphoto with my iphone because I don't have the space.

I haven't seen that you posted anything about the problem you were having. I am having the same problem and can't seem to find a way to get ultrasn0w fully installed. DID you find a fix to this?
