It appears that the only change with the update of Numbers to version 14.5 is that I get a daily nag to download the "new version" so that I can pay $12.99/month for an app that used to be free.

I assume that if I download the new version, I will be prompted at least once a day to complete an in-App purchase for the $12.99/month subscription.

Why is Apple creating new reasons to ditch the platform?

Is there any way to keep running Numbers without annoying pop-ups?

I may have to just switch to Google Sheets or something.

Looks like some terminal commands can fix the nonsense for now...

Thanks to reddit...

Code:
defaults write com.apple.iWork.Pages TSADisableUpdateNotifications -bool yes
defaults write com.apple.iWork.Keynote TSADisableUpdateNotifications -bool yes
defaults write com.apple.iWork.Numbers TSADisableUpdateNotifications -bool yes

In my experience, you assume wrongly. Apart from the first time, you will only be asked if you want to subscribe when you attempt to use a subscription only feature.

Since updates and probably most bug fixes will only be for the new version 15, it really is a no brainer to install the new version. And the new install does not remove version 14 - so you can easily go back if you want.

I was just gonna start a new forum post about this when I found this one.

Yeah, so annoying. It's just like how Microsoft bombards Windows users with advertising. And now Apple is doing it. Apple has changed in a way that I do not like. It's becoming hyper corporate and hyper financialized. It's becoming Big Brother like in the old Superbowl ad.
