You should not have to use an Apple Care claim due to Apple selling a poorly constructed product. They are shipping the Replacement! I’m not done yet, hopefully they don’t consider it “Accidental Damage” and charge me $300. But, I did ask them to use one of my AppleCare+ claims so even if they Think it’s Accidental damage, they’ll only charge me $29. View attachment 967473

Well, it was DiamondarBoss' choice to do that, but you know that you can still accidentally damage what you might consider to be a poorly-constructed product. Poorly constructed is subjective. You should not have to use an Apple Care claim due to Apple selling a poorly constructed product.
I used it because I didn’t want to send my damaged keyboard to them and have to wait for them to ship it back. The iPad is my main “Computer”, and I wanted to get the replacement keyboard before I sent mine back. You should not have to use an Apple Care claim due to Apple selling a poorly constructed product.
Well I used it so that even if they think I broke it (I didn’t), they would charge me $29 instead of $300. It’s complicated. If you're using a claim, why would it matter if it's an accidental damage or not? Doesn't AppleCare cover any damages, accidental or not? Like shouldn't you only get charged $29 for either?
Well, if you have luck like mine, they would have denied it because of the tiny ding on it from when it fell and then said it was due to the fall, even though you know better. They’ve done it before to other people with their iPhones. Sad, but true.Well I used it so that even if they think I broke it (I didn’t), they would charge me $29 instead of $300. It’s complicated.

That is why I wrap everything in bubble wrap before use. It makes it harder to use but, it keeps my stuff safe and is a fun conversation starter.Well, if you have luck like mine, they would have denied it because of the tiny ding on it from when it fell and then said it was due to the fall, even though you know better. Magic Keyboard skin v2? 😂That is why I wrap everything in bubble wrap before use. It makes it harder to use but, it keeps my stuff safe and is a fun conversation starter.![]()
Couldn't you, then, just break the keyboard in half and get a replacement for $29?Well I used it so that even if they think I broke it (I didn’t), they would charge me $29 instead of $300. It’s complicated.
No, no. This would be under warranty. They wouldn’t touch my AppleCare. But, because I wanted the Express Replacement Option, I used a Claim because Express Replacement is included in AppleCare and to use it you have to use a Claim.Couldn't you, then, just break the keyboard in half and get a replacement for $29?
I'm confused now on AppleCare hahah. I thought each time you used an incident - accidental or not - that it would all be lumped under as an incident....
Is AppleCare only activated on NON-accidental incidents?
The term "accidental damage incidents" only applies to repair/replacements requests due to accidental damage handling (ADH). Applecare+ overall covers repairs and tech support.Couldn't you, then, just break the keyboard in half and get a replacement for $29?

Yes. And this. This was a better Explanation. Lol.The term "accidental damage incidents" only applies to repair/replacements requests due to accidental damage handling (ADH). Applecare+ overall covers repairs and tech support.
Look at the What Is Covered section of this US version of Applecare+ for iPad (for purchases 10/2020 and after; there are earlier versions for earlier purchases).
Regardless of what you're requesting for service, anything you request for repair/replacement service is a claim. I think you're confusing the term "claim" with using an "accidental damage handling" incident. No, no. This would be under warranty. They wouldn’t touch my AppleCare. Also included in that Claim, if they thought that my keyboard’s damage was not a Manufacturing Defect (even though it is), instead of debiting the $300 they have on a Authorization Hold from my Card, they would release that hold, and charge me $29.
Like I said, it‘s complicated lol.
If I accidentally throw my Keyboard off the Burj Khalifa, then yes they would also use a claim and I would pay $29.
Well, who knows, if he's in the same city, maybe you'll run into him at the coffee shop tomorrow. (sorry, I need sleep, does it show?)My replacement keyboard is in my City. I don’t know why it wouldn’t be delivered tomorrow, it still says Monday delivery unfortunately.
Yes. It does. Lol.Well, who knows, if he's in the same city, maybe you'll run into him at the coffee shop tomorrow. (sorry, I need sleep, does it show?)
Cool! I just sent mine back to Apple a few hours ago. Let’s see when or if they remove the hold from my card.My replacement case came today. Old one sent back to Apple via fedex as well. $333 hold on my card, but they had the replacement to me in 2 days and I never had to leave the house.
I had previously sent pictures to Apple support, And they agreed that it was a manufacturer defect. I did not have to use Applecare+ claim and I still got express service.
im very happy with the way Apple has handled this.
So they obviously have a problem with the manufacturing/ quality of this product. Unfortunate for a new and pricey accessory.Cool! I just sent mine back to Apple a few hours ago. Let’s see when or if they remove the hold from my card.
