Yeah, I think its time they show Bond the way he is meant to be. Lets see him kill in cold blood, just like that memorable scene in Dr. No.

James Bond is not suppose to be a nice guy.
One of my favorite Bond moments, and for my money Roger Moore's finest moment, was in For Your Eyes Only, where he gets the bad guy to tell him what he wants while his car is hanging precariously off the cliff, then looks him in the eye and kicks the car over the cliff. That was great! One of the few times Moore was not a hammy wuss. Should be more scenes like that.

Talking of pretty boys, did you see who was second favorite? Julian McMahon, I had no idea of the name when I read it, but it's that bloke from Nip/Tuck!

If he could pull off a good english accent (he's an aussie), I think he could do it. 6'3", very able to give the impression of being full of himself :D

Sorry, but I think you must be a Brit to think that is a pretty mug. Now Prince William on the other hand... :D

I think he's a pretty boy in the world of Bond, he "looks" the part IMO.

My colleague says that you should never trust a person with two first names, thus Daniel Craig will not be a good James Bond.

In fact that rules out Craig David too.

Brosnan would be awesome, but i recall he was sacked because he wanted too much to do the next one.

Jude Law would be awesome too.

I think the Bond series has lost its 50/60/70's charm and now is an excuse to blow stuff up with cgi. I used to be a huge fan but now i dont even really give a sh*t because its been going down hill.

I dont think he was sacked because of money concerns. The studio sacked hime because he was too old. Thats what I read any way. I dont think he is too old in fact I kinda think a 40's age Bond is just about right.

LOL. 40? Bronson turns 52 in May!

And he looked it too, in Die Another Day.

Everything I've read/heard--and that's not a lot--is that they are re-doing Bond in a grittier, "new" fashion, as a fresh, wet-behind-the-ears new 00. That entails a much younger Bond.

Bronson had a 4th option on DAD, really one more than he should have done. I'm pretty sure he was done with the role and so was MGM. I don't think there was ever a question of him coming back for 5.

Bond is like Dr. Who...no pleasing everyone. :)

The new Star Wars's look like cartoony crap now 'cause they don't use miniatures anymore.

I dissagree with you on this, I think that they look great, but to each his own I guess.

Well Roger Moore was 58 for View to a Kill, 56 in Octopussy, 54 in For Your Eyes Only. Another noteable thing, Sean Connery is actually 3 years younger than Moore.
I guess I didn't realize that Brosnan was that old. Of course in Goldeneye, he was only 42, and Tomorrow Never Dies, 46.
I agree that the Bond franchise, if you will, is getting somewhat stale. A fresh, new, grittier Bond will be a warm welcome. And a return to an actual Ian Fleming Book should help.

Well, thinking it over, I guess they don't look like crap. It's just that I like the look of miniatures more. Even though you know that they didn't film real, life size spaceships & stuff flying by, it seems that it is much easier to tell that CG is obviously fake. Miniatures just seem much more real looking to me. Easier to forget that they're not real. CG is just a constant reminder of the fakeness.

Ouch. Didnt realize he was 52. However, I dont think he looks 52. He could easily pass for 40-something. But your right, if they want a wet behind the ears, new look Bond... he dosent fit the part so much.

Come on... Clive Owen!

Clive Owen would be the best. He always said that he would not do but in this interview it looks like he's hinting that he got the part. :)

There have been rumors of Eric Bana (Hulk, Troy) being the next Bond; I actually think he'd do pretty well.

If they do what is rumored with Casino Royale -- return to the grittier flavor of the original Bond novels, as opposed to product placement of BMWs and paragliding snowmobiles -- then I, frankly, don't care who plays Bond.

The actor is only half the part. Bronson was good but the scripts were getting downright silly. A cloaking Aston Martin...?

I just feel lucky it was an Aston Martin at all. :)

I want to see Mr. Bean be the new Bond. Sorry his last film with that singer chick was a total disaster.

Are you talking about Johnny English, or are you refering to another one?

Possibly. I really am quite undecided who it should be. I just hope they make this next film great. The franchise needs it, bad.

Daniel Craig was excellent in Enduring Love. He can certainly play a romantic lead. His acting chops, combined with his gritty "Tommy Lee Jones" good looks could remake the Bond image that same way Burton's re-imagining of the original "Batman" movie weened us off of the cartoony TV series with Adam West.

I agree, lots of people could play Bond well, what it really needs is better scripts and writing, and less far out plot lines like the last one. The last one stretched reality waaaayyy too much for my tastes. At least the first three with Brosnan were at least plausably possible.

In my opinion if Clive gets the job it will be the end of Bond, he has as much charisma as a carboard cutout, a very one dimensional character actor (Micheal Caine springs to mind but he has charisma) you know "Oi you Geezer!" types, made me laugh very loudly during King Arthur (especially when Ray "Geezer" Winstone turned up LMAO :p ) oh well sign of the times if he get's it at least he'll appeal to the Chavs, I'm not really knocking the "London working class bloke" image as it works in gangster movies, but it's something about what edesign said about "being up yourself" I just don't think he can carry it off, if he gets the part will his next car be a Corsa with BIG tailpipe, neon underlighting and boombastic Ice system  "The names Bond, James Bond innit"

p.s written with tongue firmly placed in cheek ;)

Who is Clive Owen? Never heard of him.

He was the sniper in Bourne Identity, King Arthur in King Arthur, one of the blokes in Closer (Oscar-nominated for it - Best Supporting Actor), and is Marv in Sin City.
