Great. Now we all can appreciate a good looking interface while we wait for the apps to respond.
Haha I came here to post pretty much the same. After years of just using Pages and Keynote I had to start using Microsoft Office again at work. I can't get over the fact how a Microsoft product manages to become the most frustrating piece of software on my 2017 MacBook Pro. It locks up or freezes by just saving or typing something in the most simplest of spreadsheets and documents. The interface can be incredibly counter productive. Every time I paste something the spelling jumps back from Dutch to English (US). It's just horrible. The only app in the Microsoft Office suite that's not a complete train wreck is Outlook. But from what I understood they had to rewrite it from the ground up to make that happen.

It’s like everything is switching from this bright-white-transparent look to gray/black.

Tim Cook to Microsoft:

"Oh, you think dark mode is your ally? You merely adopted the dark mode. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding. Dark mode betrays you, because it belongs to me"

A dark mode is a lot more useful for photography than it is for a largely text-based site.

Exactly. My very white Word document is still going to take up 90% of the screen space. May as well make the whole interface match the page. Same goes for Excel. Perhaps some darker Powerpoint decks would be a good match for dark mode but that's about it (and it's no coincidence that the screen shoot at the start of this thread depicts exactly that!)

I hear your pain and I guess I have been very lucky. First, I used to be a WordPerfect fan but obviously that is lightyears ago. Because of my utter frustration with the office's Windows-based Office 365, doing exactly what you say your Mac version is doing, I chucked out their Windows PC and went the Mac route. I have really had minimal problems with Office 365 Mac. I often have huge and complex Word documents to deal with that would just simply crash on the Windows PC. Were it not that it was the office's official issue, I would have kicked it off the desk a long time ago.

Lately when colleagues ask me why I don't walk around like a man possessed anymore, I point to the iMac on my desk and continue my work, with a much lower blood pressure. I have Office 365 running on three other Macs with no issues at all.

I’m using Office 365 too. Doubtful my version is any different from yours. ;-)

Ok... On Office build 181110 and still cannot see the Dark Mode option. Is anybody having the same issue?

Two bits. I didn't see dark mode options until Build 181113, the latest Fast Ring build. You'd need to have Outlook installed and select the "Colorful" option in Outlook's preferences, and you'll need to restart your Mac after a relevant (more on this next) build is installed - you won't see it until you see it. The relevant bit is that it's a rolling update - MS has phased this update over several weeks/builds. Patience...

Ok... What I find strange is that I have opted for the Office Insider updates and the Fast Ring Builds, but I never get updates that "Fast". I am currently at 181111... Patience is a virtue. But Microsoft is a vice! LOL:eek:

The current build is 181120. It should have been available for you for a few days now. My last update was on 22 November.

Great! That's a relief.
For a moment I thought I'd still had to endure the harsh of the white.
It's already available in Outlook with the last (fast ring) update. It's not perfect by any means, but looks far better, and like most people on here, it's outlook that needs it the most, as it's ALWAYS running on my Mac.

Thanks for the information.
Do you have any idea on when will it be released to general public?
