Good day to all I have a MacBook Air 2017 with the latest updates.

question is. What do you think of the dark mode??.
I try it for a few days then revert to light mode, after. a few days vice versa .
What are the thoughts on the dark mode?
Thank You.
David.

I really like Dark Mode. But, it's quite jarring when you have dark mode enabled system-wide and then open an app or website that has a large white element/background - not good for the eyes or the brain.

I don't like it. It's too intense and hurts my eyes for some reason. Much prefer light mode. All is well in light mode world.

I agree to black. Thanks.

am used to it now, been using it since it first appeared in beta. it IS jarring when an email comes in with a white background, but... lol, that now looks 'wrong'. otherwise, it just is... it doesn't seem like a thing after all this time, & i like it.

Dark mode for typing notes on powerpoint is kind of annoying because you don't know where you are typing. However, I do like using dark mode for word. I think dark mode also helps with battery life?

To me, it doesn't feel quite as sharp as the regular light mode.

But I do wish you could activate dark mode on an app by app basis instead of system-wide only. I'd like to use it for iTunes but use the light mode for everything else.

If memory serves, Dark Mode used to only change the Menubar and Dock (Mavericks?), now it is system-side. Let's hope Apple will take this further and implement it on an app-by-app basis.

Out of all of the "dark modes" I've used, I think Apple has done the best job at it so far. But it is not perfect, there are still a lot of mismatches, you still blind yourself if you happen to expose your eyes to a white image, and light text on dark backgrounds still give me a headache.

I think dark modes are not for me, and I'd rather stick to a regular light theme, and try to lessen its overall brightness with the white as a balancing point.

What I really would love is a grey or dark-grey theme, though. It would be dark enough to reduce eye strain for me, but not dark enough to force UI designers to resort to "inverted" white-on-black design choices.

I had a look at my son's windows dark theme last night, Think its a lot better than apple you cab see the white text a lot plainer on the Microsoft Windows ten dark mode.
There we are that how it goes at least we have a choice to use the light mode.
Have a nice weekend to all.
David.

Apple for whatever reason didn’t make auto switch option available. But fortunately, there is a free app called shifty, which makes dark/light mode work as I expected.

I prefer High Sierra dark mode and I use an app called Deeper from Titanium Software the maker of Onyx to achieve the HS Dark Mode.

I really do not like it.
It has added nothing to my workflow… on the contrary it has slowed things down.
