Have had the brown case since Monday - not one sign of wear or color transfer. Worn in dress pants pocket, jeans and carried around all day and night. More interested in Jeopardy reruns than sweating potential wear on a $32 phone cover some day.

+1 here, it's a leather case for crying out loud. And a very nice one at that.

Update, put some leather honey in a discrete spot, no change. Returned it and got the black apple leather case. The black one is MUCH softer, like calfskin. I think I'm going to keep this one-- thanks everyone.

I bought a brown one today and tried Leather Honey as soon as I got home. Like you said, no change. I have some dark brown leather dye I may try, but it's such a risk! I *think* I want it to be dark brown, but if I dye it there's no going back. I bought the brown not liking the light color but hoping it would darken up after it gets worn in. I do like the way the case fits and feels so I may end up dying it. I'll post pics if I do.

Tried massaging obenauf's LP onto the brown case and made no difference. The leather didn't even absorb it so I had to wipe it off. At least the leather smells better now lol

What's funny is that my tan smart cover soaked up the leather honey and made a huge difference. They're supposed to be the same leather so maybe it's something with the dye they use?

Post back pics when you try it. Any cobbler should be able to do it or point you in the right direction

Ok, so I've decided not to dye it. I saw a J Crew leather one today that was a beautiful dark brown after a year's use. It started out the same color as this one. So I'm thinking with due time it will look really great. I guess patience may be key in getting that nice dark patina.

Back of the package even says the appearance will change over time. Get over it people, it's leather.

Most of us don't expect to have the worn out look only weeks of use especially the faded edges that appear black, hell this doesn't look like normal wear to me. It looks as though the material is coming right off.

I put a Red Wing boot oil on mine.

Not a good idea. Doesn't soak in to darken, and causes the plastic pieces around the lens, and speaker holes to show black through the leather.

Obviously the leather used is paper thin.
