I am still using it daily, have some nice widgets to convert money fast and different others. Shame, but I do see that coming. Notification bar widgets can replace Dashboard but scrolling down isn't fun.

*I don't get why some people are enthusiastic about this, even if they didn't use, did this little feature slowed down their ssd or something lol. Chill guys.

With one tap I can get a glance at the calendar, weather, time in different time zones, CPU/fan stats, and even an astronomy picture of the day. Simple, fluid, and not constrained to a thin strip of desktop space that requires me to scroll.

You should check out iStat Menus. I stopped using dashboard with multiple widgets after I got this app (and no need for notification centre either).

Me? I love the calculator and the conversion widgets and use both constantly. I thought the Mojave fn, F12 shortcut and flyover implementation made them eminently useful.

I'll miss it. I use dashboard multiple times every day, but almost never use notification center. Oh well. I especially loved the Deliveries widget (which, I know, has a dashboard app) and I used to love RadarInMotion for weather maps, though when that stopped being supported I added a web clip to show weather maps which was awesome.

This was about the last redoubt for skeuomorphism...

Not going to be missed...

TBH I thought it already disappeared a few years ago.

Notification center works the same way for me

Funny, I never associated notification center as the replacement and your comment, so obvious, has made me realise why I liked it, because it served as a cognitive-break.

It took you out of the OS for a moment (or task), gave you a more real world view, less cluttered (akin to game menu) and broke your focus in a soft transitional way - akin to looking out a window for a quick visual break.

Notification seems like an annoying noise that happens on the right (before it was a thing that rammed your desktop off centre most obnoxiously.)

It's the definition of a dynamic.

I never heard of skeuomorphism until they were side-lining it and needed a label to demonise.

Dynamics are important.

They sort-of replaced it anyways with the notification widgets. Just seemed duplicative...

Why are people happy this is gone?!

You didn't HAVE to use it.

However, if you DID use it often (like me), you are right to be upset.

Just one less differentiator keeping me from giving Windows a fair shake.

I want to stay with Apple, but they JUST. KEEP. REMOVING. THINGS. I. LOVE.

EDIT:
TBH, I'm not going ANYWHERE. There's STILL too much good stuff in Apple's camp. But man, these last few years have been a painful exercise in letting go.

I remember using it decently often at some point, but I have had it turned off in system preferences for a few years now. I'm sort of surprised so many people still use it. I'm actually hoping they get rid of LaunchPad too. Now THAT'S a worthless piece of junk.

I use it for quick currency conversion. Its sad Apple has killed it off. I will only get a new Mac once Apple goes ARM on Mac. Personally iPadOS attracts me quite a bit.

Good riddance! Haha I never use it. In fact I deleted the widgets from there. I prefer side bar to access much of the same info if not more. Such as weather.

I feel for those who use it though. I understand some people may really like the feature.
