I dont' know why some people are having a problem with this question. It seems like a perfectly reasonable one to ask.

My answer: Is it a plus that someone I date also uses a Mac? Well of course! Would I date someone who uses a PC? Yes -- in fact my current boyfriend was a PC-user when I met him (he has since switched to Mac, and says he'll never go back). I understand that most of the world uses PCs, and for many it's essential for work reasons. So I would never NOT date someone just because they used a PC.

Now, would I date someone who was a die-hard PC user and was super anti-Mac? I really don't know if I could. That would be like dating a die-hard right-wing Republican (I'm a liberal Democrat), someone extremely super-religious (I'm an atheist), a chain-smoker (never smoked in my life), or anyone else with extremely different views/lifestyle than mine. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate someone with huge differences -- my current boyfriend is more opposite than me than anyone else I've ever dated, and we have wildly different tastes. And I truly think that's a PLUS in our relationship. But there are certain essential things we share in common -- we have a similar attitude about life in general, and the stuff I enjoy that's most important to me (music, comics, anything Apple) is stuff he enjoys as well. It's good to have a balance of shared interests and differences.

I do agree that if you truly love someone who's a PC-user, you're going to convert them. It's just the right thing to do... :D

Let's see... when I was last dating, it was 1988. Back then it wasn't really a question of what computer you used -- it was whether or not you had a computer. By virtue of owning a computer (a Mac 512, btw), I was a geek.

Therefore I avoided the topic of "what kind of computer do you own" entirely -- that would have significantly decreased my chances of getting a date!

That said, the woman I ended up marrying was (and still is) a die-hard Mac User. The first thing we purchased for our new home was a Mac SE with a hard drive and two floppy drives!

Oh, no! It's Macintosh or "Get the hell outta here!" I swear, the nerve of some of these women. One time, I had a girl sneaking around, using Windows behind my back. I was like "Whoa whoa!" and put her in her place.

That of course, was not serious at all. It makes no difference to me. My girlfriend conceded that she'd rather use a Mac than a Windows computer once...but I think I may have cried a little when she said Macs weren't visually appealing :(

Edit: I think the bigger question is, if everyone who used a Mac was in fact dating someone else who used a Mac, and there ended up being an odd number of Mac users, with you being the last one not dating...what would you do?!:eek:

I've converted every woman I've dated seriously. And not by trying, but because they use mine and "like it better".

Now, am I talking about Macs, or lesbians? You decide!

Does she call it "Nano"?

I lol'd

To answer the question... nah I don't care. The one I'm currently with is a PC user.

Really, why would it make a difference if she's a Mac user (at first, at least)? You'd have more stuff to talk about? Doubtful - I'm sure I'll know far more than she does. She won't be interested in discussing when the Mac minis will be updated, or what will be updated September 9. She probably doesn't even visit any Mac sites, nor care to.

"So you a Mac user?"

"Yeah, love 'em"

"Awesome. It's awesome isn't it? The bar on the top instead of the bottom. It's pretty isn't it?"

"Yeah it's pretty and easy to use."

"Yeah! And um... it's awesome isn't it?"

"... yeah."

...

*failure*

I don't care what type of computer she uses. However, I guess I have kind of turned my girlfriend into a Mac user. I started a new job and my work notebook is a MacBook Pro so she is using my MacBook and enjoying it.

May I have permission to use that in my sig?
Sure, go ahead, GorillaPaws. :)

If opposites attract, wouldn't Mac users find Windows users to be oh-so interesting? After all, they have fascinatingly exotic habits, such as restarting their computers every couple of hours, fretting over which version of the operating system to buy, and waking up in the night screaming about viruses.

Exogamous dating patterns result in more genetic diversity then endogamous dating patterns.

Date outside your tribe.

instead of a dealbreaker, it's more of a plus. that would be crazy to not date someone who is not a mac user just because of that fact
