Wonderful. So those people who blinks an eye with their $6k machine can render their projects much faster.

As for the cost, unless you don’t do much or any photo editing and such, $295 for individual editing YouTube videos, software for streamers, it is a bargain, especially considering you don’t pay subscription fee. But anything more than just video editing, Adobe still has its advantage of being tightly integrated.

Way cheaper and better than Premiere, anyway. Does what Premiere and After Effects do combined + it comes with industry standard color correction capabilities, which Premiere cannot even come close to. If you a pro, $295 is a bargain.
Also, love the Blackmagic team. So fast in updating their products, support is stellar and their cameras changed the industry forever.
Can't wait to edit my BMPCC6K footage on the M1X Macbook.
What does it do that after effects does?

I believe they mean 5x times faster than running the previous version (which brought M1/Apple silicon support) on the new MacBook Pros. So it pays to update.
But five times after at doing what. Playing back 8k footage? It plays back in real time?

Well, this won't be seen if they don't adapt the UI.

I’m a film editor and there’s no dealbreaker in using the free version of Resolve. My assistants and directors usually use the free version. Unless you need very high end features, the free version is the one you want.
I also edit film for my company. We've been using Premiere out of habit because we're already using Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, etc. so it's not much more to pay.

What's more important to us is properly supporting those who make good software. I'd like to switch to DaVinchi if possible. For us, $295 is a few billable hours. If we switch, $295 would definitely be worth it to support the developers.

Right now some of our rendering takes a few days at 5fps on a MacMini (M1) and 9fps on a more robust Windows workstation. If a new MBP would get anywhere near 5 times the fps in rendering, it would mean the latpops would be doubling the speed of the workstations. That is insane, even if that 5x only comes on the top of the line M1 Max.

We'll also have to see how long the MBPs can run at high sustained performance. Is it only 30 minutes or can it run 24 hours at that heat dissipation?

Huh, where can you watch 8K video content? o_O

Here, where I live, we have still 720p TV channels, Full HD (1920 x 1080 or 1080p) is in the sci-fi category.
Lots of pro edit in a higher resolution and export to a lower resolution because it gives us the ability to reframe and punch in on shots. Its why many have bought the 6K Pro from BM. We have more room and freedom in the edit room.

Yeah, sadly they will have to cripple the UI and adapt it to Notchbook.
You would think that posting several times a day in a forum dedicated to a specific company would make it more likely for that person to post a positive thing about the said company , but alas , not in your case , in the Hardware related discussions , in the politics related discussions , in the SW related , not a single positive thing , always negative , what is it that you gain from roaming the forums and bashing Apple at every corner ? is it something personal ? is it your actual job ? honestly intrigued.

Can't believe those complaining about $295. While most point out the Adobe @$50/mo forever (you can't get by with just the single Premiere @$20/mo, add another $20 for another single produce like After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom and may as well get the full CC package). $295 too much? Really? You do realize that it's other competitor, Final Cut Pro X is $299. The irony is, you may not need the two or three advanced features that are excluded and the free version will meet your needs.

Hmmm... let me just check how much 8K footage I've been shooting lately... yep, that'll be none then... darn you trashy underpowered iPhone 13 Pro Max 4K cameras!
