Screenshot of Davinci without its menu bar like you'd normally have.
Gee, I wonder why...

It just looks like a fullscreen screenshot that doesn't show the menu bar. Are you saying that Davinci would show the menu bar in full screen mode normally or that they intentionally took the screenshot in full screen mode where you don't have to look at the menu bar?

$295? ugh! Steep price.
For real? You can get nearly all features of this world-class software completely free. Then if you reaaally need it, you can get some extra high-end functionality for $295 (which actually used to cost $1000 until not that long ago). To top it all off, free upgrades to the latest version... forever.

I get if you're used to buying $2 apps for you iPhone, but this is industry-standard software that is used to colour grade the very highest of budget films. $295 is INSANELY cheap.

For some fun, watch this video and tell me $295 is too steep:

Number 1 - Random pictures off of the internet mean nothing to me, but glad to be reassured of your gullibility, at the least.
Number 2 -Don’t you think that whatever you think will be the problem, will be quite easily resolved?

At the end of the day, as far as screen realestate goes - the menu bar has moved up into the bezel, creating a notch. Weird to have such an issue over more screen.

1. Davinci does have a menubar across its entire width.
2. The menubar does change because of the notch. Moving items right of the notch depending on resolution.

At the end of the day you were wrong.
Deal with it.

Dude how old are you? Twelve? Do you even own a device with a notch? You forget about it a few seconds into your workflow.

I'm probably older than you. Making an age-argument is quite juvenile and projecting.

Do you realize Davinci has a menubar with dropdowns across the entire width?
Pretty relevant when an unnecessary shape blocks or alters them.

It doesn’t though. Try to understand things before you speak about them with authority.

In this case it's not about the notch anymore.
According to cupcakes, Davinci doesn't have a menubar across the entire width and it doesn't alter it because of the notch. Probably because he's never used the program and only goes by mac screenshots, in other words he's very badly informed.

Then when I point this out to him, he calls me gullible.
Hilarious.

for those concerned about the NOTCH

this is what it looks like when menus are up there..apparently the OS spaces it out where the notch is.

You making this assumption about me is pretty funny when you posted a made up screenshot about an app release you have yet to use on a computer you have yet to see.

That is crazy!! I would be pissed too!! Is it maybe something to do with an import tax? Strange since it is downloadable software, but maybe? Still, that sucks man :-/
Could partly be a VAT/Sales Tax difference, we quote with, the US generally don’t. I doubt it makes up for it all though.
True, it is UK convention for retail prices to include the VAT/Sales tax in published prices, which I realise isn't typically the case in the US. But even taking away the 20% VAT, leaves the US equivalent price as $685. Even the most expensive sales tax in the US (7.5% California?) only takes it to $642.
Tech companies typically try and put it down to the cost of doing business in different regions, but that's mostly BS since the size of their operation in the UK isn't a fraction of the US, plus the software itself is engineered in loads of other countries. I don't believe for a second that the cost of developing Illustrator in India is the same as developing After Effects in the US.

Can't wait! The beast is almost here. Ready to unleased.

Well that us a one time price theåat entitles you to all future major upgrades ( unril BMD decides yåto change polezy so not that bad considering this is a full post prod workflow in one software if you compare it to one seat of adobe premiere( not a fair comparison but anyway) you will be cheaper off in about a year added bonus, no need to deal witg adobe again

I don’t do cable, so most of my OTA main channels (8.1, 12.1, 45.1) are still 720p and the .2-.7 channels are 480i, although my GritTV affiliate just started broadcasting a 720p feed, which is great. But here we are in the year 2021 and 4K programming is barely making a dent anywhere, despite all the TVs sold being 4K and 8K is really just a pipe dream. Maybe worth shooting in for the highest end cinema (Dune, Nolan, MCU, DCU, Avatar, et al) and some live sports, but meaningless to almost all of us. The fact is that high production value 2K (ARRI, et al) with decent bit rates is good enough for 90% of the viewing public.
Holy crap are 480i btoadcasts still a thing in 2021, I thought they went out bith the death of abalogue
