I feel like this whole article is supposed to vindicate the slow adoption rate of the HomePod.

Slow adoption? It’s only been available a little over two weeks. The HomePod probably isn’t going to be for everybody, it’s a music player first, and Apple has stated that time and time again. It’s not just a smart speaker, which there are cheaper options if somebody wanted that. The HomePod delivers audio on another level.

I do not pay to record the voice of my house to someone else

You don't have a phone?

Another overpriced product lacking connectivity , 2 steps behind the competitors. the string of flops is adding up.

I would be happy with the profits of one of these flops, I could retire...

Returned mine. Wanted to like it, but was really not impressed. Sounds like any other small speaker, frankly. “Sound filling the whole room” is a load of BS

Yeah, I have to disagree. I put mine in the live room, I had a Sonos Play:1 in there. All I could say was wow. Sonos work great in really small rooms like the bathroom. HP is great in big open areas.

It sure isn't Apple, either, which this MacRumors repeatedly states Apple won't reveal how many sold. The secrecy they get away with while stating they're the best is mind-blowingly smug & infuriating.

The two rules of MacRumors Fan Boys..

If they say something about sales = See? HOME. RUN. APPLE IS AMAZING - BooYah

If they say nothing = Apple doesn't disclose numbers, but it's Apple...so..clearly..it's AMAZING

Sure, but we can go by the trends of Apple products. People on here were saying how the iPhone X is a total failure for weeks, yet they had a blowout quarter and clearly the X was popular since the average selling price went up. My point is that these Samsung fanboys/Apple haters opinions don't had any factual basis.

Also does Apple state they are the best compared to others or the best in their ecosystem? It's an important differentiation. As an example they always say they made the best iPhone ever, never whether it's the best phone ever.

I would not buy a open box speaker, you have no idea what the person that bought it did to it. Like play it as aloud as it can go for an extend period of time...

Excellent point. Not to mention, Geek Squad does a horrendous job inspecting returned items to be sold as “Open Box.” With certain electronics, you never know how they were treated by the previous owner. Customers lie about why they return items, because they are afraid the return will be denied. I would rather purchase new personally.

I love ours... and I had them delivered to the boarder and went and picked them up since they aren’t available in Canada yet.
And everything works fine in Canada? Cause I wanted to get one too... I’ve seen things online that say the speaker may not work if it’s conedted to a wifi network based in Canada or like Siri and Apple Music wouldn’t work properly or something.

Considering the Dot is about ten times cheaper than HomePod, I'm not surprised it sold more. But that's still an impressive showing for a product that most reviews say is of limited use.

I got an Echo Plus instead. Alexa is more flexible and it works with Spotify. Also I don't need this particular speaker to have AMAZEBALLSSOUND. So far the Alexa reminders have been great!

I wasn’t intending to buy a HomePod but ended up buying two. I had two Echos before and they were nice but the HomePod does all the same things I need and sounds much better.
