I just saw it today and it is a midweek madness special as well. I just wanted to pass along the good news.

I really did not play it, was there a demo (?) and am trying to remember how it compares with Left4Dead. Was this the one were to shoot a weapon it locks you into place or was that Resident Evil?

Has anyone downloaded this yet.

It's only $4.99 and I want to get it. However, when you look on the first page it says Mac and Windows, but when you add it to your cart it just has Windows symbol.

Also, does anyone know who did the port?

Either there was a demo or else I played the first part of the game in Windows but I forget now. Anyway, it's an action RPG and does support coop play but I would not say it's like Left 4 Dead other than killing zombies. I do not recall anything strange about shooting in the game. I think I'd remember that.

I think they just failed to update that. i know the place you mean and saw that too. At that point I double checked the advertisement on the main Steam page noting it is on sale because of the new Mac release. I own it and it does show in my Mac games when filtered just to show those. I haven't installed it yet.

The port was done by Virtual Programming.

It loads and plays smoothly. But, and maybe this is just me, I'm stuck in the first mission where you wake up, walk out on to the balcony and see the people jump off the roof? I try to open the elevator roof hatch, but it's not treating it as something I can interact with (not giving me the "press F" hint that bags and luggage do.)

Any hint? The YT walkthroughs I have seen definitely show the elevator as something I can get into.

That doesn't sound good. :(

Also, does anyone know if it's just the Game of the Year edition that works on Mac or does the Franchise Pack work too?

Well the game runs pretty poorly on the machine in my signature, and even crashed to desktop at one stage.

Can't say I'm impressed at all.

Unfortunately, it looks like the port is still buggy and not very polished. :(

That's a shame. I was really looking forward to this game. But I guess I will wait to see if they update it and fix all the issues.

My problem above would be along the lines of a "game-breaking bug", I would think, because I can't advance in the game. I'm stuck in the hotel where my character awoke, unable to get into the elevator.

It's fine now. Apparently, I had to approach the top of the elevator shaft a certain way before it would recognize me on top of it, and prompt me to open the hatch.

Otherwise, I'm about 2 missions in, and having a blast. The graphics are amazing.

For those "giving it a shot", please tell us about your experience.

How buggy is it?

I've advanced to the missions where I'm required to drive around the island on fetch quests, and it just slows down a bit when there are more than one zombie for me to run over.

I think the game is designed to look its best while your character is walking around slowly, beating zombies to undeath. Anything faster, and it drops frames and stutters, or crashes out to my desktop, which it did once.

I still like the game alot, as it inspires in me a palpable feeling of dread when I walk down a path and see a half a dozen undead slowly get up to come eat me.
