Really enjoying all these takes on how much people would prefer the price to be! Keep them coming, please.

I would like a Mac Pro for $1200. Let me know when it reaches that price point.
I think this Apple product takes the prize of how much backwards trendy attention it gets, tons of reasons and effort of why it won’t be bought.
And at what price negotiations would begin: “make it $299 or less and we start talking” type.

If these drop to $350 for Black Friday I may pick some up to use with my AppleTV.

For me to justify even this discounted price tag, I would like to see:
  • USB-C instead of Lightning for pure analog audio via Audio Accessory Mode
  • Lighter, less bulky, more breathable material
  • Further improvements to audio quality
And for crying out loud, get rid of the ridiculous bra case and lower the price accordingly.

I have bought and used every level of headphones and IEMs over the last 30 years up to cans costing my $4,000.

The AirPods Max are THE best headphones I have ever owned...period.

And now with spatial audio, the quality of what comes out of those aluminium cups is profound.

If the price is too much for the snowflakes commenting above, then sorry peoples, they are not for you because you have no idea what a good set of headphones sound like let alone a great set of cans, which the APM truly are !!

That's nice. My ATH-WP900's run 150 dollars more than these, but the difference is they're worth every penny.
It's not about price, rather value.

got 200 USD off. in Asia around 32 THB = 1 USD

of course, with tax on top here

All it ever needed was the wire and integrated quality D/A module into one of the cans where wire would go.

I am curious how long before these are on the chopping block.

iPod HiFi, Homepod, and now AirPods Max May all suffer from the issue of margin and cost not intersecting with demand.

SENNHEISER New MOMENTUM, because its much better , true hifi and costs just 300 bucks (Europe incl tax).

Honestly, when I bought my AirPods Max, I was expecting to regret it. But they sound really good, and I can use them for hours without fatigue [whether in the sense of listening or wearing]. I’ve never had a product with ANC, but I find the implementation here really good. And the build quality is distinctly and solidly Apple.

I know it isn’t easy because of the pandemic, but I encourage those who are able to try them at a store to give them a go.

I don’t understand why people compare the AirPods Max with crappy plastic headphones that also have worse sound quality. Maybe the reason is that, last December, Sony marketing division put a lot of effort into trying to convince people that they their cheaper products are better, but it isn’t true.

The real AirPods Max competitors are the BeoPlay H95, which cost more and yes overall are slightly superior headphones.

I have crippling tinnitus from working in industrial settings since I was a child.

I would spend $4,000 on having my eardrums gouged out for a moment's peace before I blew that much money on a set of headphones....

To be fair, the HomePod had a pretty good run, being sold for a bit over 3 years. And was really just replaced with a cheaper version. I would have bought one if only it supported Spotify!

And surely the margins on AirPods Max must be pretty healthy. Even with all the premium materials etc they can't cost all that much to produce. Business Insider estimates a unit production cost of $55 - a lot less than a similarly priced iPhone!
