So the real question is: Are these discounts an indicator of these models being discontinued? Is it a precursor to a model refresh?

Working for a former Apple reseller myself, the margins on Apple computers are pretty bad. You would only want to significantly discount if they were going obsolete soon.

Wow. There’s one with 512 storage on sale. I’ll eat my shorts if we ever see 1TB on sale. It seems like you need to be, unfortunately, a successful rap artist to enjoy years-old affordable levels of storage in a Mac laptop.

B&H has 32gb/1TB for $400 off. So i hope your shorts are tasty. Want some salt and pepper?

(But B&H apparently didnt sponsor an article about their sale prices....i suspect that is partly how this works? Possibly every macbook pro option is on sale somewhere right now, if you are a self-feeder and dont wait for someone else to check prices for you.)

Junk keyboards = laptop that is not to be trusted = Don’t buy at any price

Apple no longer makes laptops worth buying. Let’s hope that changes in 2020. (And not just the keyboards, but the junk camera on MBA, etc.) Oh, and get Catalina to be a stable operating system. The real reason we buy Macs is for MacOS, and it’s no longer good. Be a shame to finally, after years of stubbornness from Apple to get the hardware fixed only to be still unable to buy because MacOS is no longer able to be trusted with your workflow.

It’s amazing that using old Mac hardware and old MacOS is now the smart pro move.

Funny how my coworkers and I get on just fine with those “junk keyboards” and Catalina (which works just fine). Sounds to me like you don’t actually own one and instead base your opinions off of what a few people online say.

Amazing how the Apple loving zombies cry 'troll' or 'echo chamber' whenever someone questions/criticizes their beloved Apple.

Spent three weeks thinking that reply up?

Got your new keyboard and you're still salty. Smells like troll to me.

Have you looked at Gateway lately? Probably just what you need. 🤓

Took me only a couple seconds to ‘think that up’. Not exactly a revelation that ANY apple laptop with a butterfly keyboard is a bad buy.
Ask John Siracusa, ask the New York Times, Leo Laporte, Renee Richie, Marco Armant, or any other informed apple journalist.
To defend this faulty design is just silly at this point.
But again, I get it, you spent a good amount of $$ on this machine, so your confirmation bias is strong.

I have the MacBook Air 2019 and the keyboard works just fine for me...does the job just fine. as long as it types what you want I fail to see how it's a bad buy...for the price I think it's great value.

I agree, since I haven't had any of the issues people are talking about, they must be lying about it and just whining on the internet because they are all trolls. I am glad I found someone who agrees with me.

You place a lot of value in "journalists" opinion's. Many, many people love their butterfly keyboards. They just don't get on their soap box to proclaim how great it is. Likely because they're just enjoying their experience and not thinking about your angst.

I'm not defending anything. I never mentioned keyboards. I'm just calling out all the cucks as all you can do is complain constantly like petulant children and derail any informative thread with your temper tantrums. Thread gets posted and spoiled children throw themselves on the floor to get maximum attention to their selfish needs.

I get it, we get it, YOU hate the keyboard. Vote with your wallet and move on.

It still amazes me that in 2019 Apple thinks it’s okay to charge that much money for 128 gigs of storage. It’s insulting really.

I know, Amazon has a 970 M.2 1TB for 149.99 right now, imagine being able to get a 128 model and buying this and installing yourself. I still love my 2012 MBP's for this reason. I just put another Crucial 2TB in one of them. A 1TB upgrade in a 2018 Mini is +600$. Thats a bit over the top even for Apple.

There are a lot of bad reviews about the butterfly keyboard. I’ve personally not used one as I still have an older MBA that uses the older scissor keyboard. It seems as though they are changing back to the older scissor keyboard. However I would still have bought a new MacBook with with the butterfly keyboard because buying a windows laptop is not an acceptable alternative for me.
