We've been keeping an eye on AirPods deals in the wake of Black Friday, and before today only the AirPods 3 have seen a return of Black Friday pricing. However, Amazon now has the AirPods Max at their best price of the year of $429.00 in Sky Blue and Space Gray, down from $549.00.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with Amazon. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

If you missed this deal last week, today could very well be one of the last times in 2021 that you'll be able to order the AirPods Max at this price in time for the holidays. Space Gray is in stock and will arrive by December 8 for users in the United States, but Sky Blue's availability is quickly dwindling and may not ship to your location in time for the 24th. Order now if you're interested.

Amazon's pricing on the AirPods 3 is at $149.99, down from $179.00, and this model is in stock and will also arrive sometime next week. We track sales for every model of the AirPods in our Best AirPods Deals guide, so be sure to bookmark that page while you shop around for the wireless headphones.

Update: This deal has now expired for both Space Gray and Sky Blue AirPods Max models.

To those who are saying they are overpriced, perhaps so, but now that I've owned them for a couple of weeks I can honestly say that they are really good vs my Sony XM3's if you are in the Apple ecosystem.

Likes:
  • The transparency mode has been a game changer and I now use these over the AirPods Pro for just about all my work phone calls.
  • Best noise canceling. I think that some of this is passive because the cups cut out a lot of noise on their own. The overall effect is stunning.
  • The seamless device switching also works well if, like me, you have all Apple everywhere.
  • Sound quality is so good. I'm no audiophile, but I know bad from good. They are very balanced over a wide range of music types with pleasing bass and crisp highs.
  • Spatial audio. Yes it's a gimmick, but I really like it!

Gripes:
  • Dumb case instead of a power switch. It's so very dumb. Really dumb. I hate that thing.
  • Shorter battery life than the Sony's which sucks because I use them a lot more. I just put them on charge each night.
  • Can be tiring over longer periods of wear. These bad boys are heavy and clamp on tight.

Contrary to most people here, I love the case. It's ideal to add the APM to an already tightly stuffed backpack during longer train rides.
Protection is fine and if they had a case as big as the Sonys (I owned them) they would never fit into my backpack. They are also very easy to handle, compared to the Sonys with their zippers.
Other cases seem to be made as a kind of furniture or for usage on a construction site or on expeditions or what?

I’d rather buy them open box from Best Buy than eBay. That way you could buy AppleCare. I think I’d pull the trigger at $350.
I don’t personally don’t trust ‘open box’ items from Best Buy. Especially with headphones, there’s so many variables that why they could’ve been returned and what may/or may not be wrong with them. I realize the cost savings, however; Best Buy does a terrible job with inspections with opened items.

I really don't care about the AirPods Max. I'll wait for the version that supports Lossless Audio using UWB, which is likely coming probably around summer 2022.

Bought a space gray one for 526€. Returned it today. Sounds about the same to my ears as my airpod pros, is less comfortable, heavy, and of course expensive.

woah! It lasted nothing, I would have given one to a brother of mine at that price… he tried mine and loved it.
