I paid $2499 for my 14" 1TB when it came out and it's easily the best laptop that I have ever owned. It's up there with the 12" PowerBook that I bought in 2003!

If you're in the market for a MacBook you need to get one of these. You won't be disappointed. The M2Pro will likely get you a modest boost in performance (like the M1 to M2 did) but it is so hard to push an M1Pro to it's limits with daily tasks that I doubt waiting for an M2Pro would change your life. I mean, if your workflow is crushing an M1Pro, you really need to be shopping for an M1Max or and M1Ultra in a Mac Studio, or waiting for a MacPro.

for now it's not worth it . but , with the 20% coming to the m2 mbp , it will be worth it .

new prices : mbp 14 starts @ 2599 € . mbp 16 starts at 3149 €

i'm not a prophet but i could bet on these prices
Actually the price drop in Amazon Germany ain’t bad. I just got the 14” MBP for €1900 compared to €2250 at Apple…

Also, people living in the US may correct me if I am wrong but in most states there are taxes to be paid on top of the $1599 price for example.

The 10-core M1 Pro/1TB SSD model is on sale at $1,999.99, down from $2,499.00. This is a new all-time low price on this model of the 14-inch MacBook Pro, and only Amazon has the sale.

16-inch MacBook Pro

Secondly, you can get the 10-Core M1 Pro/512GB 16-inch MacBook Pro for $2,199.00, down from $2,499.00. This one is available in Space Gray and Silver as well.

On the higher end, the 10-Core M1 Pro/1TB 16-inch MacBook Pro is on sale for $2,299.00, down from $2,699.00. This is another record low price on the 2021 MacBook Pro, and it's only available in Space Gray.

I bought from BB almost a month ago bit had them price match Costco, who has the 1TB model with the 10/16 core processor for 1999.00 right now. So awesome deals are easy to find right now. I find it hard to justify spending full price and probably a lot more dollars for the upcoming M2 models when today's machine is probably over 90% of what you will get with an M2.

What's funny about your comment is I picked the silver model this time instead of space grey because it reminded me of the old school PowerBook G4s.

I agree for every day tasks this is quite impressive and more its quite impressive. Since I've had this I can't say I've ever heard the fans even kick in once. When I compare it to my 2020 MacBook Air (early) the fans ran a ton and would feel warm often.

depends when did you buy ur mba, cause this deal can be had from bestbuy and costco for months now.
When I purchased it was with the back to school promo and I got my MBA for the same price as the Best Buy deal at the time (which was still a good deal, but a couple hundred dollars more). Being the same price, I went with the smaller foot print and new color (starlight). I was going back and forth between the MBA and the 14 MBP. I had a pro all the back to the powerbook G4 equivalent. Since this was a personal machine and not a work machine, I decided to go with the smaller form factor. Has been great so far, but I still have second thoughts about that beautiful 14 screen ....

Do us Europeans really have to fly to NYC to buy a Macbook now? The price discrepancy is ridiculous.
TLDR: In comparing prices before taxes (no US sales tax, no European VAT) on a 1 TB/16 GB 14" M1 Pro MBP (one of the models mentioned by the article as heavily discounted by Amazon US), and converting to USD, I found that Apple UK's retail price is $200 less than that of Apple US, and Laptops Direct's UK discounted price is only $60 more than Amazon US's discounted price. [And Laptops Direct delivers to: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Andorra and Gibraltar.]

Details:

A lot of the discrepancy is because prices listed on Apple's European websites include the VAT, which averages about 20%. Listed US prices, by contrast (including those on Amazon and Apple), almost never include the sales tax.

For instance, consider this model:

1667857045847.png

Now let's take the UK as an example (not techically Europe, but close enough). There, before VAT, it's £2,000, which is $2300 at current exchage rates—$200 less than in the US.

1667857064209.png

Of course, Amazon US now has it at $2000. But surely those in the UK can find *some* discount off the $2300 retail price in the UK to bring that closer, no? And indeed you can--Laptops Direct has it for £2,149, which should be £1,790 after VAT, or $2060.

So in, sum, in comparing prices before taxes on this particular model, Apple UK's retail price is $200 less than that of Apple US, and Amazon US's discounted price is only $60 more than Laptops Direct's UK discounted price.

1667857601977.png

So ultimately you may find the cost is 5%-10% more than in the US. I'd hardly call that "ridiculous". Indeed, when you're comparing the cost of a domestic product to one that's imported, I figure that sort of price discrepancy would be typical.

It's one of my regrets that I didn't get Silver. The Space Grey is great, but the Silver looks really sharp. I bought it sight unseen following the announcements and chose the same 'safe' Space Grey color that I have loved on my last three MacBooks. May be next time - although I see myself keeping this thing for years. I got about 8-years from that old G4!

That's an argument well-made. Folks outside the US forget that most of us have to pay sales tax (~8% where I live here in Cali) in addition to the advertised price, whereas in most European countries it is hidden in the advertised price.

Take into account currency fluctuations and the overall cost of doing business which tends to be higher in the UK/EU, then perceptions about unfair pricing outside the US might be viewed differently.

Yes, exactly.

Note there was an error in the bolded phrase (I switched Laptops Direct and Amazon), which I just corrected in my post. It should read:

...and Laptops Direct's UK discounted price is only $60 more than Amazon US's discounted price.

And not:

...and Amazon US's discounted price is only $60 more than Laptops Direct's UK discounted price.

How come all these great deals are always on the space gray items - I've always liked the silver color :-/

If you have a local microcenter near you, they have some great deals as well. $800 off this configuration:

Thank you for post this! That is a massive discount. It would be nice if MacRumors posted stuff like this as well, but I guess they don’t post anything that doesn’t earn them “affiliate” kickbacks.

Wow- I just saw on a pretty slick deal site (hint) that microcenter had offered the same price for the 64GB version - over a grand less than sales price!!! Alas, the offer is now gone. Again, would have been nice to see that on here or elsewhere. 😕

Are updated models coming next week? Amazon always has deep discounts right before new products are announced.

My tea leaves aren't any better than anyone else's, but the consensus from the rumor mill seems to be that there will be no new Macs this year:

Costco.com currently offering the same prices until Nov 20th. Bought mine there tonight because AppleCare was $60 cheaper than on Amazon (or anywhere else), so an even better deal.

Costco is a great place to buy. Buy with the Costco credit card and get double warranty and cash back. Nice.

Could never quite grasp the usefulness of a 16" laptop; it weighs a ton, too big to use on airlines, and for home use the screen is tiny compared to what one can get in a reasonably priced (read: non-apple) external monitor.

Great deal on the 14" Macbook Pro. Definitely can consider buying this instead of the 512GB Macbook Air.
Unless weight is an issue, or the people who will use the laptop don't need top end capability. Like my family members, who surf the web and read emails. The MBA is a VERY appealing machine for them, and frequent travelers.

I have a high end brand new MBP which I really love, but that lightweight midnight MBA is tempting...
