If they are updating the Magic Keyboard I would love the ability to fold it back behind the tablet so I won't have to detach it if I want to use the tablet as a note/drawing pad. Only reason I didn't buy this one was because of that it won't allow you to fold the keyboard all the way behind the tablet.

I just ordered one from Target on January 6, but thankfully they were able to price adjust it. I was a couple days outside the 14 day price adjustment window, but they made an exception.

The keyboard is great, I just wish it had function keys. The Logitech keyboard does, but it also doesn’t have pass through charging. Also Apple’s keyboard is covered under AppleCare if you have it for your iPad.

I have to say ... the Magic Keyboard has been tops for me. Using it on the new Air, whatever it's called. I've used a lot of keyboards in my day, and although occasionally I do need the "escape key function", which is rendered as command-period (really, guys?) it works okay. all in all ... top notch product. As for $100 off? Sure, I would pay less than I did!!! 🍸😹

My initial post seems to have not been clear enough.. my comments about “models” going the way of the dodo, I meant the iPad Pro that is current in the 11” form factor.. I think we’re going to see new mid and 12.9” comparable models probably in the next three months. So, I think companies are moving this 11” MKB model out before getting stuff with a bunch of excess inventory. Sure, it fits the current Air model, but I think apple doesn’t see that iPad buyer (for the air) as their target audience for a 299$ keyboard.

I thought the latest rumour still had the 11 Pro on the table. Still I see them both staying physically the same but with newer processors and the 12.9 with Mini-LEDs.

A new Magic Keyboard 2 would address the lack of media keys and perhaps be foldable. It would start at $299.

Regardless, the current Magic Keyboard would remain but drop down to $199 and be perfect for the mid-range iPad Air 4 or 11 Pro owners.

You can always return it and order this one. Nothing stopping you except for saving $100 bucks. Also some stores price match.
Yeah, unfortunately, I'd already opened it and played around with it in anticipation of getting my new iPad (did I mention it arrives tomorrow?) Thanks for the suggestion though.

FYI in Denmark the 11" is priced at 2600DKK(425USD) and the 12,9" at 3000DKK(491USD)

We don't have amazon and those products NEVER get a discount at any hardware stores!

... so can you all just please zip it :D
That’s your own governments fault, blame import tax, not Apple. So let us enjoy these discounts in peace. :D

Meanwhile it's €339,- in the Netherlands ($485,89) for the 11-inch.

This math doesn't check out. 339 euros * 1.22 = $413. And that already includes your sales tax (21%) and a 2 year warranty (we only get 1 year in the US and sales tax comes on top of the $ price).

So taking away the 21%, you are at $342, which is pretty close to the US MSRP, considering the extra warranty. Also euro has been strengthening lately and that hasn't factored into the price yet.

You guys in the US are so lucky with all these deals you get on Apple products. $199 for the Apple Magic Keyboard is incredible value. I brought my AMK for £280 and that was with a Civil service employee discount. It works flawlessly with my Ipad Air 4, great build quality, uses the smart connector so no bluetooth pairing or charging nonsense. The keyboard is like a Mac keyboard, and so is the trackpad. Just love this thing, but its expensive, however for $199 (about £150) its a no brainer if you got a IPP 11 or Air 4.

You know an accessory is expensive when it’s $100 off and people still think it’s overpriced.

Yep that is totally true! We got other things people envy like our living standards, healthcare system, unemployment benefits etc. I guess I can't complain. It's is just too bad when you have diffrent Apple products and want to give 'Tim The Almighty' a little coin from time to time :D

Sure, people often forget about 'State Sales Tax Rates' in USA and the 1 year warranty. I have never really looked up how it works.

https://www.salestaxinstitute.com/resources/rates

Isn't true that the local states sales tax rate differ according to the product you are buying? I mean there could be a difference between electronics like Apple products and buying furniture for your house right?

According to the link above there can be quite the difference in states sales tax rate. Am I completely lost or is it a good idea to buy all of your products in eg. 'Oregon' or 'Kentucky' ?

Are people really thinking a lot about this or is it more like, just be aware off 'tax holiday periods' ? Like described here:

https://www.cheatsheet.com/technolo...-buy-apple-products-with-zero-sales-tax.html/

I remember once reading some article about the cheapest place in the world to buy Apple products which was quite interesting...

199 is a realistic pricing. I’ve ordered one too.
kind of also thinking maybe in March new iPad Pro means new accessories?

Now you tell me! I ordered mine a while ago. I'm finally receiving my new iPad Air in the mail tomorrow. I feel like I've had to wait forever. Wish I'd been able to take advantage of the $100 savings. I have already received the Magic Keyboard and the Pencil 2. Great deal here for the keyboard.
If it is in the return window try returning it to Apple and ordering it from Amazon.

Mine just got here in the mail, and wow, this thing is great! It's a bit heavy, but it definitely makes the ipad a real competitor to laptops.

If the OS was better and the multi monitor support was better I would ditch my laptop for good.

I hope so. And if so, whether or not Apple will fix the shortcomings.

They may feel a row of media keys would clutter things up.

Making it more foldable may go against their belief that the MKB is a more of a dock, than a handheld case. After all, they have the smart folio kb for that.

Still too expensive, heavy, doesn't include pen and can't fold back without removing in tablet mode.

I have been very happy with my keyboard. I got it late June (2020). Here is how it looks with normal use. And that is with clean hand use every time.

I certainly do miss having my Anker bluetooth keyboard and STM cover/kickstand setup that I had on my old iPad 3. I have not been able to get the keyboard to work yet with the Air 4. Waiting to buy a Speck cover/stand until it goes on sale again.

This Apple keyboard does intrigue me.... But Magic devices have been less of a winner-winner for me in the past than I'd hoped.

And....that price!
be careful with the speck cover, apparently the open to wake/close to sleep isn’t working. i bought one and returned it back, and it’s a widespread issue. speck tried to be slick and sent out stickers to cover the advertisement of that feature on its packaging.
