I have ASDs, LG 5Ks, an XDR, and a 2017 iMac Pro.

The ASDs appear identical to the LG 5Ks. The XDR is nice, but the backlighting looks pretty bad (grid-like) with solid white backgrounds. The iMac Pro stands above them all--great with solid colors & almost zero light bleed; (I just wish it had the black levels of the XDR). Everyone who's seen them all side-by-side has agreed. I'm not sure if I simply lucked out, but I'd gladly trade all my other monitors for ones that look like the panel found in the Pro.

If I were really trying to save money on a High-DPI display, I'd buy a used LG 5K and just deal with the wobbly stand; (or mount it on a solid VESA arm). Even still, $1299 ain't terrible for the ASD.

Interesting, because I have a MacBook Pro with the same mini-LED backlighting and it has no such problem. Calibration issue? Or does the Pro Display XDR have different-sized zones?

Having seen what the mini-LED backlighting can do on the MacBook Pro display, it would be hard to buy another monitor without similar HDR performance (and peak brightness). I just wish the Pro Display XDR wasn't $5,200 (with the minimum mounting option)...

Well, that was the motivation I needed to get this over an OLED Alienware monitor. Just wish the tilt and height adjustable version has a similar discount.

Just buy a basic monitor riser platform if you want more height. You can make it look pretty sharp and you'll get more desk space too.

So annoying that this is only for the tilt-adjustable stand, which is really unusable if you're tall. $300 more for VESA or $675 for the height adjustment just to get what every other monitor on the market has. I literally just bought one with a VESA mount yesterday, very frustrated to see it on sale so soon after but only for the model that I can't use.

Hmm... tempting to get a second one. Best display I've ever owned.

I'm hoping this means that the rumored display that slots between the ASD and the XDR is right around the corner.

I have an LG 5K with serious image retention issues. I still love the display, but I'm spending way more time at my desk these days and want something better. I'm waiting to see what new display (if any) comes this year before deciding on getting an ASD.

Just received my Apple Certified Refurbished Studio Display last week in anticipation for my M2 Pro Mac Mini (arriving tomorrow!), I can’t believe it’s dropped to such a low price.

Word to the wise: Apple does price matching! In the past week, I’ve been able to price match the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and now the Studio Display to save over a hundred bucks.
Congrats on the new set up! Solid combo!
I had no idea Apple price matched. Good to know. Thanks.

Unfortunately, after being spoiled with the MBP ProMotion 120Hz display, 60Hz just doesn't cut it.

I would not consider the Apple Studio Display (or the Pro Display XDR, for that matter) until Apple moves to a 120Hz display (and adds HDMI 2.1).

The challenge for me is finding a 4k(+)/120Hz external monitor that is professional-looking, rather than an absurd gaming monitor. Suggestions are welcome!!

Still overpriced for a 60Hz display that is only HDR600, Thunderbolt 3, and has a crappy webcam.

Hopefully this price drop is clearing stock ahead of an update. But we really need more competition in the 5K, 6K, and 8K monitor tiers.

I would like to see a 32" 6K, 120Hz, Mini LED display with Delta E < 2 color accuracy for under $2000. Don't care what brand it is as long as it looks halfway decent. Doesn't need a fancy chip, or the USB-C hub, or the 96W power delivery, or the crappy webcam like Apple's. Just make a damn good display that isn't astronomical in price sometime in the next year. Someone has to be able to do it!

What are the odds of this? Do these price drops portend an update of some kind? I can't help but feel like whoever's in charge of this display at Apple bears the responsibility to deliver a new model which at least improves the webcam. I have an LG 5K and it's strange how its webcam is superior to the Studio Display's.

I guess the price drop hasn't reached every item yet. ;)

Seriously, though, this is a good price for the ASD. Apple should have announced the price drop on the same day they announced new Minis. As others have mentioned, it's good to see downward pressure on prices due to recently announced monitors from other companies.

Careful: due to a design flaw, the Studio monitor sits too high. Even worse, the height-adjustable version only goes even higher (it can't go down at all). Hopefully that bug will be resolved in the next version. Unless you like standing while you use it.

I just wish it had a better contrast ratio, sadly it has the same as like 95% of monitors out there and they should be well aware that they've ruined all other monitors for me after the MBP screen.

Just a day after the launch of new MacBook Pro and Mac mini models, Amazon has slashed its pricing on the Apple Studio Display to $1,299.99, down from its regular price of $1,599.00.

This $299 discount on the Apple Studio Display is the steepest we've ever seen and is available only on the lowest-cost model with standard glass and a tilt-adjustable stand.

Upgrading to nano-texture glass for even less glare increases the price to $1,749.00, which is still a solid deal at a $150 savings over the regular price. Versions with the tilt- and height-adjustable stand are priced higher.

You Americans are so lucky, here in The Netherlands they recently raised the price to $1.940 🤣

Yeah I've been waiting for one with miniLED and 120Hz. I would pay $3000 for those.
