Except no other monitor can deliver this image quality. Trust me I've tried the other non-Apple monitor YouTube and the Internet have been trying to promote as Apple alternatives and none of them can compete with the ASD.

Of course microLED local dimming 120h will be even better but (1) the product isn't ready yet so this is the only reasonable choice (2) it will be more expensive so you can't really compare apples and oranges.

Except the resolution, what other monitor couldn't reach to the image quality? I have been using Acer CP7271k and it does pretty much everything I listed except 4K vs 5K. The color uniformity is far superior as well, no weird tint either that plague most 5K monitor that I have used.

I just bought the ASD with Nano screen with height adustable stand from Apple. I couldn’t wait any longer for Samsung to release its ViewFinity S9. Not a lot of options out there if you need 27” 5K. My eyes are really bad so the Nano screen was a must for me to cut down on the glare. No problems with it so far. Only thing I’m wondering is if the Nano coating reduces brightness? Even though this is 600 nits and my 24” LG Ultrafine was 500 nits, the brightness feels about the same. Is this normal?

Living in the UK I find news of these price drops worthless. There is very rarely any price reductions on any Apple products from amazon.

No one forced you to live on that craphole of island. So much for Brexit hahaha

I know I lived there for 4 years while studying. Was already a craphole compared to Switzerland where I later moved to.

The only decent thing you have is universities, research, beer and football clubs.

At this rate - soaring prices, mass migration and limited resources of such a tiny island... well, good luck mate! 😄

Comparing Apple with Acer, lol...

When I compared both models in the Apple store, I'd say they're about the same when it comes to brightness, but sure the base model looks sharper, which might give you the impression that the brightness differs. I think they're the same but given the texture of the nano screen it slightly reduces the exposure.

I can't stand working on a dungeon of darkness, that's why the matte option is so appealing to me. My office is bright and that helps me with my mood. lol
I still have two 30" ACDs and I love that matte screen. I have an MBP running and the screen glare on that is awful.

I guess what's why Apple came up with two models lol

If there was only a matte model to choose from, I would never have purchased the ASD.

What do you get with this monitor? Standardization. Edit an image on the SD, and when you open it on your iPhone, iPad, etc., the colors are the same, as well as the framing. That's why you buy these. But for me, it's the speakers, and my blind a55 can see things better.

This! alone justifies the premium I paid for the ASD vs. a LG or Dell etc., since no other non-Apple monitor is able to match perfectly the ASD in the exact same way. Blame the manufacturers guys, not Apple. If a competitor had released a similar product matching exacting what I'm getting right now with ASD, for half the price, I'd have bought it for sure.

I don't mind having options. Glad Apple offers both. lol

Then the glare will be the same with the glossy. Just be prepared for the blur. It’s significant.
