Less than a week after debuting a record-low price on the Apple Studio Display with nano-texture glass, Amazon has knocked another $150 off to bring the price down to $1,349.99 from its regular price of $1,899.00.

This $549 discount on the nano-texture Apple Studio Display is by far the steepest we've ever seen and is available only with the basic tilt-adjustable stand. Amazon is quoting a bit of a delay in delivery times to late April, but for this much of a discount it may be worth locking in that pricing.

While the standard Apple Studio Display comes with an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare, the nano-texture glass option scatters light to minimize glare even more. Apple says the option, which is normally a $300 upgrade over the standard glass, is ideal for spaces with bright lighting sources.

At the moment Amazon is pricing both the standard version and the nano-texture glass version at $1,349.99, so even the standard glass model is seeing one of its best prices ever tracked.

Update 10:25 am: The nano-texture glass version is currently unavailable from Amazon, but may come back into stock at a later time. The standard glass version remains available for the same $1,349.99 price.

Yep, still expensive. The Nano model should be $999 max.
Damn, I would love to see the XDR 32" drop in price to $2k (display only). Even as a professional, I have a hard time justifying paying over $7k (nano/stand) for it.

I bought the normal one in November at around that price (for a second one in the set). Had I not, would have gotten this one instead!

In my opinion: Sturdiest, no wobbling, sharp, bright, most convenient, plug and play screen. I use it to connect a desktop, or a laptop or an iPad Pro (depending on what I’m doing or if moving around)… single cable swap.
Cheaper $200 24” Samsung utility screens next to them shows all the difference.

Definitely not for everybody though, this is likely the first comment that talks positively about this display.

Apple still has this model in-stock and available for next-day delivery, so this was just AZ clearing out its stock.

I wonder why AZ did this. Are they expecting the upcoming 27" 5k Samsung Viewfinity S9 (which comes in matte finish only) will be priced so low that it will cause nano-textured ASD sales to tank, and wanted to clear those out before the Sammy is released?

totally agree - love my studio monitors. However I bought the nano texture and sent it back and much happier with the standard due to the sharper image.

I'd wait for the next screen if I were you, hopefully there will be a 34" model too.

Just purchased the standard one yesterday, after visiting the Apple store to see by myself how horrendous the nano-texture looked lol.

Amazing screen the normal one it really 'changed my life' (lol)

Of course 120Hz Pro-motion blabla and many more things to come in the next screen will be nice to have so I start saving now 7k lol to buy it in a few years. Hopefully Apple will release a 34" version of a supercharged 'XDR v2' model.

But until then seriously I'm sooooo happy. Finally. My bank account hates me now (in Europe it's still 1700-1750, not 1'399), but my eyes love me again.

I've tried so many alternatives which all sucked and yes there's nothing such as a Retina screen for Apple products. Period!

hope the next version has 120hz and a cheaper price point... wishful thinking

120hz yes but base model of the next gen will be priced between the ASD and the XDR quite logically since it will have new features vs. the ASD.

The camera is an embarrassment and the price is too high, but it’s still the best monitor and Thunderbolt hub I’ve had. Love the nanotexture. I wish the laptops came with it.

I think it was a mistake for apple to include mics, cameras, speakers, and an A13 in the monitor. It is unnecessary ...but to justify a higher price. Just do a 30 or 32" quality monitor without all the extras and give us a lower price.

Are you not bothered by the texture of the nano? I prefer sheer clarity and fidelity but I guess to each their own.

as a former 32" owner, I dont like ot move my head side to size in applications
I've already got three displays, so for me that head movement wouldn't be an issue.

My main display fustration is not being able to see all the data in my spreadsheets at once unless I use such a low Zoom value that they're hard to read, and upgrading my central monitor from a 27" 5k Retina to a 32" 6k Retina would certainly help with that. Indeed, a 36" 7k or 42" 8k would be even better.

While I’m with you 100% that the Studio Display is the best monitor I’ve ever had, it definitely is not a Thunderbolt hub, as it only has one Thunderbolt port (which must be used as the video input). If you’re using the display as a monitor, it has exactly 0 Thunderbolt ports.

Fair point, I haven’t actually seen a nano textured apple display in front of me, just (very briefly) someone else’s XDR with it and didn’t go deep into evaluating it.

I always have one screen at an angle that happens to get some sunlight reflection but “I’ll just close the blinds for those hours” seemed the cheaper sensible alternative and didn’t think of the potential of a less sharp image, maybe it’s just fine as it is then.

I wonder if this is the first evidence that Amazon knows what the price is going to be for the Samsung 27" 5K Viewfinity s9 (HDR600) thunderbolt display with matte finish (no charge) vs Studio Display ($1599) with nano-textured glass ($1899)?
