Just weeks after launch, the Apple Watch Series 8 is already seeing its first significant discounts at a major retailer with Amazon taking $50 off many of the cheapest configurations, GPS models in both 41mm and 45mm sizes.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with some of these vendors. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

For example, the 41mm GPS aluminum Apple Watch Series 8 in Silver with White Sport Band is now available for $349.00, compared to the regular price of $399.00. Midnight and (PRODUCT)RED versions are also currently available at the discounted $349 price, but some configurations remain at the regular $399.

Customers should be aware that Apple is now requiring users select either a S/M or M/L Sport Band at the time of purchase rather than including band pieces for both sizes, so be sure you are purchasing the proper band size and that the configuration you want is on sale.

Those who prefer the larger Apple Watch size will find similar $50 discounts on select 45mm GPS aluminum Apple Watch Series 8 models such as Starlight with Starlight Sport Band, bringing the price down to $379.00 from $429.00. Silver and (PRODUCT)RED versions with M/L Sport Bands are also currently showing the discounted price.

Expect more discounts on select Apple products over the next few days with Amazon's "Prime Early Access Sale" this Tuesday and Wednesday. If you're not already a Prime member, Amazon offers a 30-day free trial to help get your holiday shopping started early.

This is like iPhone 14… it’s an AW7 with a different name. It was doomed to see lackluster sales from the beginning. Apple is in a dangerous phase where they’re trying to grow profits by extracting more from its customers instead of providing more value. That usually signals a company in decline.

This.

There’s no obligation to release a product every year. Steve Jobs didn’t do that ever but with the iPhone

Considering the S8 is £50 more expensive at launch than the S7, I’d say that’s not a sale but the actual deserved price!
Yup. I was waiting for this to come out to upgrade from s3, when I saw EU price went up and not much difference in featured I just looked for a deal on an s7 and got that. No reason to pay more for an s8 🤷‍♂️

Would have been over the moon excited had this same discount been offered back when I acquired my series 6 at launch... Still the same same being offered with the series 8 (still a series 6 w/bigger screen).

Cheers,
B&T

Not a sale if you want a new band that isn’t bland or already own one of these bands and want something new or fun.

Really hoping next year will be a big improvement for the SoC on 3nm to make battery life even better and help with longevity of the device. Isn’t the current chip a few years old with some sensor upgrades? I want to buy the Ultra 2.

They could have launched the Ultra as the only really new product and keep selling the Watch 7. This is gonna be a weird period for Apple products. Look at even the M2 in the MacBook Air, its the same 5 NM as the M1 and they are still selling it in the old chassis. All product lines need a serious cleanup and simplification. Its becoming too sprawling if you ask me.

While I don't agree about your statement on decline (must have been the home office that made product development slow down), the AW8 is indeed just an AW7s. No wonder few people are bothering with it.

What do you expect? Apple was 100% WFH for 2 years. Employees didn't do much in those 2 years. We're finally seeing products designed during the WFH era releasing and they're... lackluster and full of bugs.

Wait for 2024 or 2025 products. Those will be the first ones designed in office again.

Aren't you the anti-WFH guy that posts this on every article?

There is no obligation to survive for a company. True, but I suspect apple would rather survive. In the current highly competitive market a lack of constant innovation will translate inevitably in decline and eventually company death. Apple needs to change course and needs to do it quickly if it wishes to continue to exist.

I was the only anti-WFH guy here. Now there are many since I started making people aware of WFH issues.

When I started posting about anti-WFH culture, I was getting 80% downvotes. Now it's an even 50/50 on upvote/downvote. People are definitely noticing the delays, uninspired product updates, and major bugs.

Why do you keep saying this again and again knowing full well that the products were equally mediocre in 2019?

People here tend to notice things that aren’t there while simultaneously ignoring things that are. It’s beyond impressive, really, a new adventure every release. I should know: I’m one of them.

Might as well save some money and buy Series 7.
From where? Does Apple still sell it? Because to my knowledge, unless you want to buy used, this is easier said than done.
