OH
Best Buy is strange. They are selling my current laptop (2019 MOP pro 13 inch) for nearly as much as this deal q=you quoted. My computer is 4 years old. I can't believe it is still worth so much

Apple - Geek Squad Certified Refurbished MacBook Pro - 13" Display with Touch Bar - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 128GB SSD - Space Gray

Model:GSRF MUHN2LL/A
SKU:6489774
$699.99
It’s worth that much to Best Buy customers, but nobody here reading 😉

If Tim Cook wasn't such a greedy corporate scumbag, $899 would be the normal price of the MacBook Air. When Steve Jobs was CEO, when a new product line was launched, it would be very expensive, and then future generations of that product would be much lower in price.
You're joking right? Go back and look at the launch price of the 13 in 2010 MBA, when Jobs was CEO, and compare it to the launch price of the 2022 M2 MBA. Then, look at the slow drift downward for both models until the retail price gets to $999. It took several years of the 2010 MBA model to get to that magic number. The M2 MBA is well on its way to $999 retail, and it has only been out for less than 18 mo. In fact, it took almost 3 years for the 13 in 2013 MBA to get to the same retail price as the current M2 13 in MBA at $1,099 in 2023. Per CNET:

Is this a harbinger of new M3s on the way, or just a poorly selling configuration?

Wake me up when it comes with a normal 1TB SSD as a starting point, instead of his silliness from 13 years ago.

Does buying like that give any warranty?
Yes - the apple warranty is valid for one year from the device’s original purchase. My machine has 11 months left on the warranty. Every used (excellent condition) Mac I’ve purchased from BestBuy was only used for a few days to a week before being returned by the original owner. Its a great way to save hundreds of dollars, especially when they run deals.
