You can get a 16/512 from the Apple refurb store for $1439; that's $260 off. There is, but the 16gb are rarely if ever offered in these sales, plus, you cannot upgrade the ram.

I assumed he was seeking a "new" computer. Your right the refurbs are less money. You can get a 16/512 from the Apple refurb store for $1439; that's $260 off.
...uh no, not even close. Even the entry level air with the 7 core cpu is barely slower even under sustained loads in most benchmarks. And of course the m1 air is half as fast as the base m1 pro
That’s in CDN $ dollars I assume? So ~ $1286 USIn Canada they are still rip off pricing for these MacBooks 🙁
On the surface I agree but then I just returned M1 Air for the 13" MBP because of the Touch Bar. My wife had it on her '16 MBP and hated not having it on the Air. I said if you want the Touch Bar then we have to get it now because the M1 MBP is the last one that is going to have it. 🤷♂️I still have no idea why anyone would ever get the 13" MBP M1 over the 13" MBA M1...it's a significant price premium for almost no difference in real-world functionality at all. Still loving my MBA M1 that I picked up at Best Buy for around $670 open box last year 🙂
Not correct....uh no, not even close. Even the entry level air with the 7 core cpu is barely slower even under sustained loads in most benchmarks.
Are you talking the Macbook Pro 13" with the M1...or the Macbook Pro 14" is the M1 Pro. I assumed you were talking about the 13" Macbook Pro with the M1 which is barely any better then the air.Not correct.
The m1 pro is dramatically faster
I loathe the Touch Bar. What a blessing that the MBA has physical function keys - and that Apple learned from their mistake and didn't include that abomination on the new MBP models. Phew! I guess your wife should buy a couple of MBPs to have some extra Touch bars around just in case...On the surface I agree but then I just returned M1 Air for the 13" MBP because of the Touch Bar. I did say "M1 Pro". Not sure how it could have been any clearer than that. Are you talking the Macbook Pro 13" with the M1...or the Macbook Pro 14" is the M1 Pro. I assumed you were talking about the 13" Macbook Pro with the M1 which is barely any better then the air.
M1 Pro could clearly refer to the the chip in the 14” Macbook Pro or the 13” Macbook Pro with a M1…still not sure which one your talking about for sure since this is a topic talking about the 13”. The 13” MBP with the M1 is barely any faster then the M1 Air. If you are talking about the 14” with the M1 Pro I’m not sure why you even bring that up as this isn’t about that laptopI did say "M1 Pro". Not sure how it could have been any clearer than that.
If I had meant the m1 chip in the 13 inch MacBook Pro I would have called it an m1, not an m1 pro. at any rate, yes - I was indeed referring to the CHIP we all call the “m1 pro”M1 Pro could clearly refer to the the chip in the 14” Macbook Pro or the 13” Macbook Pro with a M1…still not sure which one your talking about for sure since this is a topic talking about the 13”. Thanks for clearing that up. Not sure why that was at all relevant to this post since this is about the 13” proIf I had meant the m1 chip in the 13 inch MacBook Pro I would have called it an m1, not an m1 pro. at any rate, yes - I was indeed referring to the CHIP we all call the “m1 pro”
